Platform DevOps Administrator

Role Summary
A security-focused Platform DevOps Administrator responsible for maintaining, automating, and securing enterprise Linux and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) application environments. This role emphasizes automation of routine tasks, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with security standards such as DISA STIGs and NIST. The position requires independent troubleshooting and the ability to implement repeatable security and operational processes to ensure the stability and availability of mission-critical production systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation scripts and playbooks using Ansible for system administration, patching, security hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
• Automate the application of security baselines, patching, and configuration updates to Linux, middleware, web servers, and COTS platforms.
• Support and perform remediation for vulnerabilities, including CVEs and KEV findings, prioritizing based on severity and exploitability.
• Maintain secure and compliant Linux environments by implementing and verifying DISA STIG requirements and other security standards.
• Administer, troubleshoot, and upgrade Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across multiple versions, ensuring their stability and security.
• Support middleware and application platforms such as JBoss, RabbitMQ, and Node.js, including patching, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates and PKI infrastructure to support secure communications.
• Assist with virtualization and containerization technologies, supporting virtual machine and container security, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Provide 24×7 operational support, including monitoring, incident response, backups, and ticket management, following ITIL best practices.
• Work independently to identify issues, analyze root causes, develop solutions, and escalate when necessary, maintaining clear communication with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Linux administration, DevOps, platform or middleware support, or a related field.
• Proven expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) across multiple versions (6, 7, 8, 9).
• Extensive experience developing and maintaining Ansible playbooks and roles, including automation of security and patching tasks.
• Strong understanding of DISA STIG compliance and experience implementing security baselines using automation tools.
• Familiarity with vulnerability remediation, CVE analysis, and the CISA KEV Catalog.
• Knowledge of NIST security standards, PKI, SSL/TLS certificates, and mitigation of security vulnerabilities.
• Support experience with application servers (e.g., JBoss), web servers (e.g., Apache), messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ), and scripting environments such as Node.js.
• Understanding of virtualization and containerization technologies like VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting 24×7 production environments, including incident response, backups, and change management.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, troubleshoot complex issues, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
• Working knowledge of ITIL processes including incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
• This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.

Publishing Pay Range: $45.00 - $50.00 USD Hourly

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
