Quick overview
Job description
About the role
This is the marketing-focused techno-functional lead on the program. You own the marketing solution and its requirements end to end — running discovery with marketing stakeholders, owning the design and the sign-off — and you hold the holistic view of how marketing connects to the rest of the client's platform, including their enterprise data and analytics environment. Perficient's Salesforce practice delivers in small, AI-first teams. AI drafts most of what used to be written by hand — requirements, stories, configuration, tests and documentation — and a named person reviews, corrects and approves every piece of it, and is accountable for it. We hire people who can direct that work, defend it in front of a client, and keep learning as the tools change.
About the engagement
You will join a long-term, AI-first Salesforce program for a Fortune 50 global automotive manufacturer, as part of a distributed delivery team. The program runs across Salesforce Core, Marketing Cloud, Data 360 and Agentforce, and the work moves between them. We are hiring people who learn new systems quickly and go where the work is — on a long engagement that matters as much as what you know today.
What you'll do
- Lead marketing solution design on Marketing Cloud Engagement today, with the program moving toward Marketing Cloud Next and Data 360.
- Run discovery with marketing stakeholders and own the requirements summary, corrected and approved.
- Own the marketing design and every decision in it — journeys, segmentation, consent and the data model behind them — and get client sign-off before build.
- Hold the end-to-end view: how marketing data flows to and from Salesforce Core, Data 360 and the client's enterprise data platform.
- Decide defect versus change request and agree the test with the client before UAT opens.
- Work alongside the program's technical leads so the marketing solution and the platform stay one solution.
- Prototype in the platform to settle a design rather than describing it.
How you'll use AI
- Use AI to draft requirements, PRDs, journey designs and options analysis, then correct the synthesis and make the call.
- Direct agentic tooling against a sandbox to prove a marketing design before it is committed.
- Review generated work critically before it moves. Generated work fails plausibly — complete, well-formed, internally consistent and wrong — and you are the one who catches it.
- Answer one question about anything you approve: what did you change or correct before you approved it? A reviewer who never has an answer is not reviewing.
- Work fluently in whatever the engagement runs on — Claude, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, platform assistants, or the client's own stack. The activity is mandatory; the tool usually is not.
Required
- 8+ years of relevant experience, including client-facing consulting
- Marketing Cloud Engagement solution design and implementation — journeys, data extensions, segmentation and integration with Salesforce Core
- Experience running discovery and owning a design through client sign-off
- Marketing Cloud Consultant or Marketing Cloud Email Specialist certification
- Demonstrated, current use of AI tools in discovery and design
- Strong written and spoken communication, and the ability to explain complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred
- Hands-on Marketing Cloud Next experience, or a clear grasp of how it differs from Marketing Cloud Engagement
- Working knowledge of Data 360 architecture and identity resolution
- Data Cloud Consultant certification
- A senior engineer moving into architecture is welcome — show us the solutions you have owned
Who we're looking for
Technical depth gets you in the door. Beyond that, we hire for four qualities together, not any one in isolation — and we want people who are humble enough to teach as readily as they learn, hungry enough to close a gap without being asked, and smart about people as well as platforms.
- Techno-functional depth — You can build in the platform in scope and understand how it actually works — having led teams through it is not the same as having done it. On this program: the client expects excellence in every discipline. Pair technical depth with data-driven reasoning — know your solution, know the evidence behind it, and be ready to defend both.
- Client presence — You command the room, establish trust in the first three calls, and have a spine: you push back and bring the alternative with the refusal. On this program: the client values radical transparency and accountability without fear. Being in the room means saying the hard thing early, on camera or in person.
- AI-native delivery — You use AI to widen the options and prove designs in a sandbox, and you can tell a finished-looking document from a decided one. On this program: the client reviews performance metrics consistently. AI-native delivery here means measurable, defensible output, not only speed.
- Learn-fast orientation — You operate when things go off-process and pick up new business domains quickly. On this program: raise what you don't know immediately, not after two weeks of pretending otherwise. Gaps surfaced early are welcome; gaps hidden are not.
You are already using AI tools to work faster and deliver better outcomes, and you want to keep pushing on that. This is where the practice is headed, so it is a practical, non-negotiable skill, not a nice-to-have.
