C developer

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced C or C++ Developer to support time-sensitive, client-funded enhancements to FirstRx, a long-established pharmacy benefit management (PBM) platform. This is a hands-on development role focused on maintaining and enhancing a large, approximately 25-year-old C codebase.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with legacy applications, investigating complex code, identifying where changes need to be made, and implementing enhancements. While the application is written in C, candidates with strong C++ backgrounds will also be considered, provided they are comfortable working within an existing C environment.
Key Responsibilities
? Investigate and analyze existing C application code to understand system functionality, business logic, and dependencies.
? Develop, modify, and enhance existing application code to support client-requested changes, including areas such as pricing logic.
? Navigate a large, mature codebase to identify impacted components and implement appropriate solutions.
? Work with Oracle database integrations, including SQL embedded within C application code.
? Develop, compile, troubleshoot, and maintain applications running in an AWS Linux environment.
? Collaborate with existing developers, systems developers, and analysts to understand requirements and validate changes.
? Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
? Follow established development practices to maintain application stability and minimize regression risks.
Required Qualifications
? Strong professional development experience with C and/or C++, preferably supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
? Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing legacy applications and existing codebases.
? Strong understanding of compiled applications and development within Linux/Unix environments.
? Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar code, understand existing logic, and implement changes.
? Experience debugging complex applications and resolving technical issues.
? Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
? Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with other developers and technical team members.
Preferred Qualifications
? Experience working with Oracle databases and SQL, particularly embedded SQL within C applications.
? Experience with GitHub or Git-based source control.
? Previous experience supporting FirstRx or similar legacy enterprise platforms.
? Experience working with large-scale transaction processing applications.
? Healthcare, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), or pharmacy claims processing experience.
