We are recruiting a Solution Architect to join a leading global technology and transformation consultancy. You will design secure, scalable solutions that address complex business challenges across high-profile public-sector programmes.

Working closely with clients, delivery teams and senior stakeholders, you will translate functional and non-functional requirements into clear solution designs. You will also establish architectural roadmaps, provide technical leadership and ensure delivered solutions comply with agreed standards and principles.

This role is suited to an experienced architect with a strong understanding of cloud technologies, open standards, integration and modern software-delivery practices.

Key responsibilities

You will:
  • Design innovative technical solutions that address business, functional and non-functional requirements
  • Define architectural roadmaps for systems and business services
  • Translate complex requirements into clear, practical solution designs
  • Document solutions using recognised modelling standards, including ArchiMate, UML and BPMN
  • Define architectural standards, principles and delivery guidelines
  • Advise stakeholders on technical options, risks and trade-offs
  • Provide design and technical leadership to development teams
  • Review deliverables to ensure quality, completeness and architectural compliance
  • Support solutions throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Contribute to thought leadership, practice development and new service offerings
Essential experience

You should demonstrate:
  • Previous experience working as a Solution Architect or in a closely related architecture role
  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, open-source technologies and open standards
  • A sound understanding of architectural concepts, methodologies and frameworks
  • Experience applying design patterns and architectural patterns
  • Knowledge of systems integration techniques and technologies
  • Experience addressing non-functional requirements such as security, performance, resilience, availability and scalability
  • Practical experience using modelling notations such as ArchiMate, UML or BPMN
  • Experience leading or providing technical direction to software-development teams
  • Strong quality-assurance skills, with the ability to assess technical deliverables
  • Experience working within both agile and traditional delivery environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
Location and travel

The role is based in Bristol or the wider South West. You must be comfortable travelling occasionally to Cheltenham and, on an ad hoc basis, other client sites throughout the UK.

Security clearance

Any offer will be subject to satisfactory BPSS and SC+ security clearance.

Applicants must declare that they hold a British passport and do not hold dual nationality. Clearance will typically require ten years of continuous UK address history, usually with no periods of 30 consecutive days or more spent outside the UK.

Salary and benefits

The role offers a salary of up to £85,000, depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
  • 25 days' annual leave
  • Private medical insurance
  • Three additional days of leave each year for charitable work
  • Continuous technical and professional development
  • Ongoing architecture training and upskilling opportunities
If you are an experienced Solution Architect based in Bristol or the South West and meet the security-clearance requirements, apply today or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
