SYSTEMS ENGINEERING MANAGER 2 | Newport News, VA, United States | On-site

They are looking for a talented Systems Engineering Manager to join a key department focused on future submarine design and advanced capabilities.
The Role
• Lead and mentor systems engineering teams within the Future Submarine Design department, supporting vital programs like SSN(X) and SSN-AUKUS.
• Drive the adoption and maturation of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices, including developing and maintaining system architecture models using tools like Cameo Systems Modeler with SysML/UML.
• Oversee MBSE-informed requirements traceability, interface definition, and functional decomposition for concept and preliminary design phases.
• Foster leadership and team development by identifying skill gaps and establishing training pathways for MBSE capabilities.
• Interface with government customers and integrated product teams in a technical leadership capacity.
• Contribute to the design, analysis, test, and integration of complex naval platforms, specifically focusing on submarine systems.
What You'll Need
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program with 6+ years of progressive technical experience, OR a Master's Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Cameo Systems Modeler and working knowledge of SysML and/or UML for system architecture modeling.
• Demonstrated experience establishing or maturing MBSE methodologies, modeling standards, and governance processes.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization across design, analysis, test, and integration disciplines.
• Familiarity with DoD/Navy MBSE initiatives and digital engineering strategies.
• Experience interfacing with government customers or integrated product teams in a technical leadership role.
