Geotechnical Engineer

Geotechnical Engineer / Senior Geotechnical Engineer Remote / Home Based | Occasional UK Office Travel | Long-Term Contracts DFM Resourcing is recruiting Geotechnical Engineers and Senior Geotechnical Engineers to support a major UK nuclear new-build engineering programme. We're interested in engineers experienced in ground investigation, geotechnical analysis and the design of foundations, retaining structures, earthworks and associated ground engineering solutions.

The Role:

• Geotechnical desk studies
• Design and specification of ground investigations
• Laboratory and in-situ testing requirements
• Interpretation of GI data
• Development of site-specific ground models
• Derivation of geotechnical design parameters
• Foundation design
• Retaining structures
• Earthworks and slopes
• Buried structures
• Excavation support
• Ground improvement
• Soil-structure interaction
• Geotechnical risk assessment
• Design substantiation and engineering assurance
• Multidisciplinary coordination
• Management/review of external engineering packages Relevant software within the programme includes OpenGround, Leapfrog and PLAXIS. Experience Required:
• Civil, Geotechnical or Engineering Geology degree
• Ground investigation and interpretation experience
• Strong geotechnical design capability
• Experience of foundations, earthworks and retaining structures
• Geotechnical analysis experience
• Experience within infrastructure, energy or another regulated engineering sector
• Progress towards CEng/CGeol or equivalent experience Experience within nuclear is advantageous, but candidates from other major infrastructure and safety-critical engineering sectors are strongly encouraged. The Opportunity
