Quick Overview
Job Description
Data & Reporting Solution Architect (SME)
A health system payer is migrating its core claims platform to a new administration system. Alongside dedicated platform SMEs, we need a Data & Reporting SME to assess migration progress, review the data and reporting migration approach, and recommend architecture and implementation direction for the downstream reports affected.
What you'll do
• Assess implementation progress against the target data architecture (source system → conformed warehouse → BI/reporting layer).
• Review the data and reporting migration approach, including replication/CDC design, schema redesign, and the cutover plan for affected downstream reports.
• Validate dual-source precedence rules for the transition period, and flag fidelity gaps between legacy and converted data.
• Identify and close architecture gaps — latency/freshness targets, end-to-end ownership, reconciliation controls, and data ownership across systems.
• Recommend target-state architecture, implementation sequencing, and governance for report cutover.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI/automation to accelerate migration — mapping validation, reconciliation, lineage, and report re-platforming.
• Partner with platform SMEs to translate core-system conversion decisions into data and reporting impact and recommendations.
What you bring
• 8+ years in healthcare payer data architecture, data engineering, or BI, with hands-on core claims administration platform experience.
• Strong grounding in payer data domains — claims, enrollment, member, provider, encounters.
• Hands-on cloud data platform experience (AWS/Azure, Snowflake or equivalent, CDC/replication tooling).
• Experience with enterprise BI tools and managing report inventories through a source migration.
• Familiarity with payer regulatory reporting (CMS, state Medicaid, HEDIS, EDI encounters).
• Track record designing migration/cutover strategies — reconciliation, precedence rules, fidelity trade-offs.
• Nice to have: prior core-admin platform migration experience; experience applying AI/LLM tooling to data engineering tasks.
Engagement
• Consulting SME role, reporting to the Solution Architecture / Program lead, working alongside platform SME workstreams.
