Platform Engineering Manager

Position: Platform Engineering Manager – Private Hosting Services

Location: Charlotte, NC ( HYBRID: In-office 3 days per week )

Duration: DIRECT HIRE – FULL TIME

Summary:

We are seeking a Platform Engineering Manager to lead and evolve an enterprise Private Hosting Services platform. This role is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure capabilities across compute, storage, backup and recovery, virtualization, and operating systems.

You will define the platform strategy and roadmap, enable self-service provisioning, establish standardized configurations and golden paths, and help transform traditional infrastructure into an automated, API-driven, Infrastructure-as-Code-based service. You will also build and develop a high-performing engineering team while partnering across architecture, security, infrastructure operations, SRE, and application engineering.

Skills/Experience Needed:

• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience building, scaling, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience leading through other leaders across complex, distributed environments.
• Experience architecting and integrating enterprise compute, storage, virtualization, and backup/recovery capabilities.
• Deep experience with private hosting technologies, including VMware, NetApp, Cohesity, Windows, and Linux.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, operational excellence, and service reliability.
• Experience owning mission-critical, 24/7 platforms with responsibility for SLAs, incidents, and service health.
• Proven cross-functional leadership across architecture, security, compliance, and infrastructure operations.
• Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Data-driven approach to platform performance and continuous improvement.
• Experience driving operational maturity and cost optimization with a FinOps-aware mindset.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the strategy, roadmap, engineering, and adoption of an enterprise private hosting platform.
• Integrate compute, storage, virtualization, backup/recovery, and operating systems into a cohesive platform.
• Deliver self-service provisioning, service catalogs, standardized configurations, and golden paths.
• Drive automation-first, API-driven, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Embed security, compliance, governance, and reliability into platform capabilities.
• Own mission-critical, highly available platforms, including SLAs, incident response, and service health.
• Partner with architecture, cybersecurity, risk/compliance, infrastructure operations, SRE, and application teams.
• Lead architecture decisions while remaining engaged with technical execution.
• Build, scale, and develop distributed engineering teams, including senior and lead engineers.
• Use metrics to improve availability, reliability, performance, efficiency, cost, and developer experience.
• Drive operational maturity, continuous improvement, modernization, and cost optimization.
• Apply AI-enabled automation to simplify and scale repeatable operational processes.
