The Role
Morningstar Retirement is seeking a Senior Project Manager cum Scrum Master to join its Project Management team in Mumbai. This is a client-facing role that combines strong Agile delivery leadership with traditional project management practices.
You will be responsible for managing end-to-end delivery of complex initiatives while acting as a Scrum Master for multiple Agile teams. You will collaborate with global stakeholders across product, technology, operations, and clients to ensure successful execution, transparency, and alignment with business goals.
This role requires a balance of Agile coaching, stakeholder management, and structured project governance, along with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.
Responsibilities
Agile & Scrum Leadership
- Serve as Scrum Master, driving Agile values, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies and ensure effective participation
- Coach teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile principles and best practices
- Enable self-organizing, cross-functional teams and remove impediments
Project & Delivery Management
- Manage end-to-end delivery of projects, including scope, timeline, risks, and dependencies
- Create and maintain project plans, milestones, and deliverables across global teams
- Apply both Agile and traditional project management methodologies as needed
- Support backlog refinement, estimation, sprint planning, and release planning
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as a primary point of contact for stakeholders and clients on project execution
- Provide regular status updates on progress, risks, and dependencies
- Influence decision-making and drive alignment across cross-functional teams
- Build strong relationships with global stakeholders and ensure client satisfaction
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track and communicate progress using Agile metrics (velocity, burndown/burnup, sprint outcomes)
- Analyze key delivery metrics and drive improvements
- Ensure transparency through dashboards, reports, and governance forums
Risk & Dependency Management
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks proactively
- Manage cross-team dependencies and escalate issues when required
Continuous Improvement
- Drive process improvements through retrospectives, feedback loops, and coaching
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5-8+ years of experience as a Project Manager/Scrum Master in software delivery environments
- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Strong working knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management methodologies
- Proven experience managing multiple complex, cross-functional projects
- Experience working in client-facing roles with global stakeholders
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities
- PSM, CSM, PMP, or equivalent certifications
Good to Have
- Knowledge of SAFe framework concepts, including Program Increment (PI) Planning
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, or similar
- Experience supporting UAT, release, and go-live activities
- Experience leveraging Agile metrics to monitor delivery and support decision-making
Work Model
- Hybrid work model (currently 4 days per week in the Mumbai office)
