AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Boston on October 21-22, 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027.
The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.
On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Boston office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our AECOM Transportation Department in either our Boston, MA or Chelmsford, MA or Manchester, NH office. AECOM is searching for candidates that can be creative and impactful on a wide range of transportation projects.

As an Entry-Level Structural Engineer, you will work with multi-discipline project teams in developing a range of engineering solutions from initial concepts to detailed design development and through construction. This is a diverse role that will involve your contributions and insight into the effective delivery of the department’s current and future portfolio of projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Design for bridge rehabilitation projects under the supervision of a senior engineer.
- Development of bridge maintenance and repair plans.
- Performing load ratings for bridges.
- Design of transit structures.
- Bridge and tunnel inspection and evaluation.
- Various tunnel engineering support services.
- Preparation of construction plans and specifications.
- Preparation of cost estimates and schedules.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Registration as an EIT.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
- Flexibility to work on a variety of projects, including highways, bridges and tunnels.
- Flexibility to occasionally work alternate schedules (nights, weekends and holidays) and short-notice work assignments depending on project needs.
- Good interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information in layman’s terms.
- Previous internship experience is a plus.
- Software Experience: AutoCad, Microstation, MS Office and Structural Analysis Software experience.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position
- This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Boston, MA or Chelmsford, MA or Manchester, NH. The selected candidate must be available to work in one of those offices on a scheduled basis.
