Senior IT Principal Architect

Description & Requirements

Maximus is currently seeking a Senior IT Principal Architect.

This is a remote position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the technology design and definition of software solutions.

- Work with Maximus systems and operations staff to design cost-effective integrated technology solutions comprised of both in house and commercial off-the-shelf products.

- Act as lead technical representative and spokesperson supporting pre-marketing and proposal activities.

- Drive the decision-making for technical decisions in conjunction with systems technical staff.

- Document technical strategies to facilitate operational business needs.

- Review federal, state, and company policies to determine applicability to systems functionality, design, and operation.

- Develop strategies to fulfill requirements and assess effectiveness of implementation.

- Collaborate and coordinate with appropriate internal and external groups to ensure the confidentiality and security of all corporate information.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for technology solution bid competitive analysis as it relates to how industry competitors approach technical solution pricing, trends in awards.

- Guide teams regarding estimation best practices, cost optimizations, risks impact and quantification, service level agreement impacts, market or seasonal trends, pricing strategies/approaches, and efficiencies.

- Develop and provide presentations and demonstrations of high-level solution concepts and related estimation models to internal stakeholders.

- Innovate and articulate competitive cutting-edge cloud solutions approaches.

- Strong ability to investigate, evaluate, and recommend new solutions, tools, products, frameworks, and emerging technologies for incorporation into enterprise technology and coding standards.

- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and develop detailed technical proposals and recommendations to resolve problems.

- Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, development methodologies, integration strategies, and enterprise application development.

- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, JavaScript, Telerik, Kendo UI, and SQL Server.

- Strong experience with Azure SQL and T-SQL, including database design, development, performance optimization, stored procedures, and complex queries.

- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, web services, system integrations, and distributed applications.

- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, cloud architecture, and modern application deployment strategies.

- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, source control, automated testing, deployment, and application lifecycle management.

- Knowledge of application security principles, secure coding practices, identity and access management, data protection, and enterprise security standards.

- Ability to establish and maintain technical standards, architecture patterns, coding standards, and development best practices across multiple teams.

- Ability to analyze existing applications and technology environments and develop modernization, optimization, and migration strategies.

- Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, solution design sessions, and technical decision-making across multiple teams.

- Ability to effectively multitask, prioritize competing assignments, and manage multiple complex initiatives while meeting deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in related field required.

- 12-15 years of relevant professional experience required.

Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:

- Additional years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

- At least 12 years of technical experience in IT including estimation and successful bid development is required.

- Proven experience communicating with non-technical business personnel and ability to interact and work in a team environment.

- Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills to senior management both internal and external including SMEs.

- Ability to articulate and explain high-level architecture and design ideas to larger audiences and stakeholders.

- Ability to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations.
