Job Description

Java Architect + GenAI Architect

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite) – Only locals
Duration: Long-term

Contract Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect enterprise-grade Java applications and distributed systems.
  • Lead modernization of legacy applications using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Integrate AI/GenAI capabilities into business applications, including chatbots, intelligent search, recommendation engines, and automation solutions.
  • Design and implement solutions leveraging LLMs, RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), vector databases, AI orchestration frameworks, and prompt engineering techniques.
  • Collaborate with business, product, and engineering teams to identify AI use cases and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Define architecture standards, security best practices, observability, and performance optimization strategies.
  • Mentor development teams and provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Skills

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on Java development.
  • Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Kafka, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Experience designing enterprise architecture and scalable distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/GenAI technologies:
    • OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar LLM platforms.
    • LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, LlamaIndex, or related frameworks.
    • RAG, Vector Databases (Pinecone, Chroma, Weaviate, Azure AI Search).
    • Prompt Engineering and AI Agent development.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred

  • Retail or eCommerce domain experience.
  • Experience building AI-powered customer engagement, search, personalization, or merchandising solutions.
  • Knowledge of MLOps and AI governance.
