Job Description

Senior IT Support Engineer

Up to 39,000 + competitive pension + generous annual leave

Hybrid 3 days a week on site, 2 days from home.

We're looking for a Senior IT Support Engineer to join an established IT team and take ownership of a broad range of technical support requirements.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems properly, taking ownership from initial investigation through to resolution and providing a high level of support to users at all levels.

You'll work across a modern Microsoft environment, supporting Microsoft 365, Windows, Intune, Active Directory and end-user technology, while also contributing to wider IT improvements and projects.

The ideal candidate will have progressed beyond traditional 1st/2nd line support and be comfortable acting as a senior escalation point when issues require deeper investigation.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex desktop and Microsoft 365 issues.
  • Support Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint and Exchange Online.
  • Manage users, groups, permissions and access through Active Directory and Entra ID.
  • Support Intune and Autopilot, including device enrolment, configuration, application deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Build, configure and deploy laptops and other end-user devices.
  • Troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi and general connectivity issues.
  • Support meeting rooms, AV and workplace technology.
  • Provide a high level of support to senior stakeholders.
  • Own incidents through to resolution and ensure users are kept informed.
  • Work alongside infrastructure, security and external suppliers when required.
  • Contribute to IT projects, improvements and service desk processes.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and knowledge articles.
  • Support less experienced members of the team through knowledge sharing and mentoring.

About you

  • Several years' experience in IT support with responsibility for complex or escalated issues.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
  • Good knowledge of Active Directory and Entra ID.
  • Practical Intune experience, ideally including Autopilot.
  • Strong Windows desktop troubleshooting skills.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals.
  • Experience supporting senior stakeholders.
  • A methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership.

The role

This isn't simply a ticket-logging position. You'll be someone the wider organisation can rely on when technology isn't working as it should, with the autonomy to investigate issues, find solutions and improve the service wherever possible.

If you're technically strong, approachable and enjoy being the person people turn to when something needs resolving properly, this could be a very good next step.
