Mechanical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established manufacturer of bespoke industrial machinery and engineered systems.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, designing mechanical components, fabricated assemblies and complete machine systems from concept through to manufacture. You'll work closely with production, fabrication and assembly teams, ensuring designs are practical, efficient and fit for manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
• Design mechanical components, assemblies and fabricated structures.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Support projects from concept through to manufacture and installation.
• Work closely with production and manufacturing teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Produce accurate technical documentation and engineering drawings.
• Assist with design reviews, engineering changes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure designs meet performance, quality and manufacturing requirements.

About You

• Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer, CAD Engineer or Design Draughtsperson position.
• Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience producing manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Good understanding of fabrication, sheet metal and general manufacturing processes.
• Comfortable working closely with production and engineering teams.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

• Autodesk Inventor experience.
• Experience with machinery, material handling equipment, industrial equipment or special-purpose machinery.
• Knowledge of engineering change control and PDM systems.
• Design for Manufacture (DFM) experience.
