Senior Data Migration / Data Purging Lead

job summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Migration & Purging Lead to guide and execute the technical separation, archiving, and migration of critical R&D applications. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with enterprise application owners, R&D engineering SMEs, and database teams to establish data inventories, define retention and purge rules, and lead seamless data transitions. Your expertise will safeguard system integrity, maintain strict data governance, and ensure operational continuity across our technology ecosystem.

responsibilities:

• Lead data discovery and profiling initiatives across databases, file repositories, and interfaces to identify migration, archival, and purging requirements.
• Translate complex business purge and retention policies into executable technical rules, filters, and SQL scripts.
• Analyze complex parent/child data relationships and referential integrity to prevent data loss or corruption during migration.
• Design, build, and execute robust ETL/ELT processes, stored procedures, APIs, and custom migration utilities.
• Establish comprehensive pre- and post-purge validation, control totals, and data reconciliation frameworks.
• Oversee end-to-end migration execution, mock cutovers, SIT/UAT support, and post-go-live hypercare troubleshooting.

qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

12-15 years of enterprise experience in data migration, ETL engineering, database development, and data conversion.

Proven track record leading data workstreams for large-scale application separations, carve-outs, or divestitures.

High proficiency in SQL and relational database environments (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).

Demonstrated experience handling complex data models, referential integrity constraints, and parent/child object dependencies.

Solid experience designing and executing data validation frameworks, control totals, and reconciliation workflows.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience managing both structured database migrations and unstructured document/file repositories.

Hands-on experience developing specialized data purging tools and automated archival scripts.

Strong communication skills with a history of translating technical progress and risk metrics to executive stakeholders.
