Job Description

Azure Data Engineer Microsoft Fabric
Location: Remote, with occasional travel to Phoenix, AZ (Phoenix-based candidates strongly preferred)

The Opportunity

We're building a next-generation analytics platform on Microsoft Fabric and need an engineer who already lives inside that ecosystem. You'll own the move to a unified SaaS analytics environment and shape how raw data becomes enterprise-ready insight - working across OneLake, Lakehouses, and PySpark notebooks to deliver architectures that scale and perform.

What You Bring

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline
  • 3+ years in Azure Data Engineering, including a minimum of 1 year of direct, hands-on work in Microsoft Fabric
  • Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark
  • Strong working knowledge of Fabric Lakehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Shortcuts, and Fabric Notebooks
  • Proven background with the classic Azure data toolset: Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, and ADLS Gen2
  • Solid grounding in Kimball data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and Delta Lake frameworks

What You'll Do

Platform & Pipelines

  • Architect and roll out end-to-end data engineering solutions across the Fabric stack - OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, and Streamhouses
  • Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines with Fabric Data Factory, Pipelines, and Dataflows Gen2
  • Author complex, tuned transformation logic in PySpark, Spark SQL, and Python inside Fabric Notebooks
  • Stand up a Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) in OneLake on Delta Lake formats, supporting Delta Live Tables

Performance & Analytics

  • Drive query and pipeline performance through file partitioning strategy, indexing, and workspace capacity management
  • Build and refine Fabric Semantic Models so Power BI reporting runs fast and integrates cleanly

Security & Delivery

  • Apply enterprise-grade controls via Fabric RBAC, Azure Key Vault, Managed Identities, and Microsoft Purview for metadata lineage
  • Set up CI/CD using Git integration and Azure DevOps to automate promotion across dev, test, and production
