Supervise, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians. Assign daily work tasks and ensure effective utilization of manpower. Provide technical guidance and support for troubleshooting complex issues. Conduct performance evaluations, training, and skill development plans. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a strong safety culture. Maintain production equipment in a manner that meets organization standards and ensure minimum equipment downtime. Inspect projects to ensure conformity to specifications, direct safety inspections and preventative maintenance programs. Ensure proper methods and procedures are followed to maintain, repair and service equipment, buildings and facilities in compliance with building codes and safety standards.

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):

  1. Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:

    • The Global Operating System Plays;

    • ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management system standard;

    • IATF 16949 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards.

    1. Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.

    2. Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.

    3. Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.

    • Maintain department 5S requirements.

  1. Maintenance Operations

    • Work closely with the Maintenance Team to execute weekly schedules and prioritize work orders.

    • Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.

    • Support plant shutdowns, outages, and major repair activities.

    • Coordinate maintenance support for production lines.

    • Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns to minimize production impact.

    • Monitor and improve equipment reliability and uptime.

    • Oversee accurate entry and completion of workorders in the CMMS system.

    • Manage contractor activities and ensure quality and safety compliance.

  1. Safety and Continuous Improvement

    • Enforce OSHA regulation and plant safety policies.

    • Ensure proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed.

    • Conduct safety meetings and daily turnover meetings.

    • Provide shift to shift updates to ensure continuity of operations.

    • Track and analyze maintenance KPIs to identify trends and opportunities.

    • Drive improvements in maintenance processes, productivity and equipment efficiency.

    • Develop and monitor detail overhaul, repair and preventative maintenance schedules for plant equipment and work within budgets given.

    • Maintain IFS and CMMS software and related documentation.

    • Work with maintenance buyers and arrange quotes from contractors

    • Identify, recommend, create training activities for the department

    • Complete performance evaluation for maintenance personnel

  1. ACADEMIC / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Completion of secondary school High school diploma or GED required: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering or related field preferred.

    1. Journeyman/woman trade certification in a relevant trade is preferred.

    1. Essential Skills

      • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatics.

      • Five years in a maintenance machining environment and two years as a supervisor or equivalent preferred.

      • Strong leadership and team-building skills

      • Excellent problem-solving and decision making abilities.

      • Effective communication and organizational skills.

      • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

      • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft and other software applications

    1. Ability to read completed inspection forms to ensure all maintenance repair and inspection tasks have been adequately completed by their workers. Study assembly drawings for equipment to determine what parts are required and how they go together.

      1. Possess excellent communications kills to speak with managers and supervisors to explain the progress of jobs and to obtain instructions and tasks. Discuss ongoing work with workers they employ and supervise.

      2. Ability to prioritize tasks to maintain efficiency. Establish work schedules and shift priorities and appointments to accommodate emergencies and cancellations. Determine how best to organize work to meet deliverables and timelines of team-based projects while supervising multiple job assignments. Use judgment and experience to coordinate and integrate job tasks with other workers and to decide job priorities.

      3. Ability to work independently and to provide professional guidance and oversight to maintenance and installation tasks and projects. Assume a wide variety of roles to coordinate job tasks with those of junior workers, co-workers and subcontractors.

      4. Maintain continuous learning to be kept up-to-date with new technologies, new information and regulatory changes within industry. Learn about new products and technologies by reading manuals, magazines and other materials at work, through on-the-job experience, and through discussions with workers.

      5. Ability to use Pareto’s for failure analysis and diagnostic.

  1. Working Conditions

    • Work performed in a manufacturing plant with exposure to noise, heat and moving equipment.

    • Requires walking, standing and occasional lifting (up to 50lbs)

    • Must be available for overtime and emergency call-ins could be required
