The position requires the ability to work the required hybrid schedule in Indianapolis, IN.


Position Overview

We are seeking an Intermediate Data Governance Analyst to support enterprise data governance, data stewardship, metadata management, data quality, policy development, data access governance, and data literacy initiatives within a healthcare/public health environment.

This role is well suited for a Data Governance Analyst who has hands-on experience working with data catalogs, metadata, data lineage, data dictionaries, data stewardship, data quality, governance policies, and business stakeholders.

The analyst will work with data owners, data stewards, custodians, analysts, program teams, technical teams, legal stakeholders, and leadership to improve how organizational data is defined, documented, accessed, protected, governed, and used.


What You’ll Do

Data Governance & Stewardship

  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of an enterprise data governance framework.
  • Work with data owners and data stewards to develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, business definitions, and dataset documentation.
  • Support data stewardship activities across multiple business and program areas.
  • Identify required metadata and coordinate business enrichment of technical metadata.
  • Maintain data catalog information and required dataset documentation.
  • Support governance standards around data ownership, stewardship, classification, handling, retention, and usage.
  • Translate governance policies into practical processes and guidelines for analysts and data stewards.

Data Catalog, Metadata & Lineage

  • Work with Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) or comparable data catalog platforms.
  • Identify, document, and maintain technical and business metadata.
  • Support data lineage documentation and lineage-related governance activities.
  • Maintain dataset reference information, data dictionaries, business definitions, and metadata documentation.
  • Work with business and technical teams to identify gaps in metadata and data documentation.
  • Help connect business requirements with technical data assets.

Data Quality Management

  • Develop and maintain data quality rules for critical data elements.
  • Identify, document, track, and help resolve data quality issues.
  • Monitor issue aging, remediation status, and closure metrics.
  • Work with data owners, stewards, analysts, and technical teams to identify root causes and resolve data quality problems.
  • Prepare data quality metrics and reporting for governance stakeholders.

Data Access & Sharing Governance

  • Intake, review, categorize, and route internal and external data requests.
  • Track data request status, timelines, approvals, and outstanding actions.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails associated with data access and sharing.
  • Coordinate with appropriate stakeholders regarding data-sharing agreements, retention, and data-destruction requirements.
  • Monitor SLA adherence and escalate overdue requests when required.

Governance Policies & SOPs

  • Draft, review, maintain, and operationalize data governance policies, standards, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Maintain governance documentation libraries, change logs, decision records, templates, and job aids.
  • Translate governance requirements into practical guidance for business users and data stewards.
  • Support policy interpretation and governance best practices across business divisions.

Training & Data Literacy

  • Develop and deliver data governance, data stewardship, data quality, and data literacy training.
  • Create training materials, job aids, templates, and stewardship guides.
  • Communicate governance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Measure training effectiveness and continuously improve training content.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Partner with data owners, data stewards, custodians, program leaders, analysts, technical teams, and leadership.
  • Build productive relationships across multiple organizational divisions.
  • Explain complex data governance concepts in clear business language.
  • Define and track KPIs, data quality metrics, governance metrics, and performance indicators.
  • Prepare leadership reports and governance progress updates.
  • Support maintenance and periodic updates of the organization's data governance roadmap.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the use, quality, protection, and value of organizational data.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience using Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) or a similar enterprise data catalog/data governance platform.
  • Experience with data governance, data stewardship, metadata management, or data management.
  • Experience working with data dictionaries, metadata repositories, business definitions, or data catalogs.
  • Experience with data lineage concepts, tools, or documentation.
  • Experience supporting data quality processes, rules, issue tracking, or remediation.
  • Experience developing or maintaining data governance policies, standards, procedures, or SOPs.
  • Experience working with business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, or technical teams.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to identify root causes and coordinate resolution of data/governance issues.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Professional experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate technical and governance concepts to non-technical audiences.
