Senior Technical Delivery Lead Location: Belfast / Hybrid / Free parking. Contract: 450-550 DR (DOE) inside ir35 / 3 months initially, with potential to extend. Hours: 37 hours per week, M-F, 8-4, 9-5, or 10-6. Start: ASAP. We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Delivery Lead to join a busy technology function on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for a longer-term engagement. This is a broad technical leadership and assurance role rather than a hands-on engineering position. You will act as a trusted technical adviser across a portfolio of technology projects, working closely with Project Managers, PMOs, Business Analysts, technical teams, third-party suppliers and managed service providers. We are looking for someone who has been around the block technically - someone who has worked across different technology environments, delivered significant projects and knows how to spot the risks and pitfalls before they become problems. What you'll be doing As a Senior Technical Delivery Lead, you will provide technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle and help ensure solutions are properly designed, governed and delivered. Your responsibilities will include: Providing technical oversight, direction and assurance across multiple projects. Acting as the technical right hand to Project Managers and PMOs. Reviewing and challenging technical designs produced by internal teams and third-party suppliers. Creating and/or reviewing High Level Designs and associated technical documentation. Ensuring proposed solutions meet appropriate architecture, security, governance and technical standards. Identifying technical risks, dependencies and potential delivery issues early. Providing pragmatic technical advice based on previous project and operational experience. Working with suppliers and managed service providers to ensure effective delivery and value for money. Supporting technical governance, change and project stage-gates. Ensuring solutions are appropriately transitioned into live/BAU operations. Supporting projects including upgrades, implementations, migrations and SaaS-based solutions. Working across a broad technology estate rather than focusing on one specific technology. Providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team. About you We are looking for a Senior Technical Delivery Lead who combines strong technical knowledge with significant experience of delivering technology projects. You are likely to have progressed through a technical career - perhaps starting in infrastructure, systems, applications, databases, networks or technical support - before moving into Technical Lead, Technical SME, Technical Delivery, Architecture or Assurance positions. You don't need to be the person configuring the technology anymore. What matters is that you understand it well enough to ask the right questions, challenge technical decisions and recognise the pitfalls. You'll ideally have: Significant experience in technical project delivery or technical SME roles. A broad technical background across several areas of IT. Experience working with enterprise technology environments. Experience of technical design, including HLDs and/or LLDs. Experience of technical governance, assurance and risk management. Understanding of core security principles. Experience working with third-party suppliers, vendors or MSPs. Experience of migrations, implementations, upgrades or major technology transformation. The ability to understand complex technical issues and explain them clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. A pragmatic, collaborative approach and the confidence to challenge when required. Experience across areas such as infrastructure, Windows/Linux, cloud, M365, networks, databases, APIs, SaaS or enterprise applications would be highly relevant. Experience of working in Agile and/or Waterfall environments would also be beneficial.
