IT Security Engineer II
Location: Newport Beach, California (Partial Remote)
Role Overview
Our organization is seeking a skilled IT Security Engineer II to provide specialized consultation on security best practices, ensuring the integrity and resilience of our IT infrastructure. This role involves designing and implementing robust security controls across diverse platforms, including servers, hypervisors, storage systems, backup networks, and mainframe environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, manage, and mitigate security risks while executing hands-on technical validations of established controls.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter specific consultation on security best practices for securing and hardening IT infrastructure.
• Design and implement security controls for servers and related IT systems, including hypervisors, storage systems, backup systems, and mainframes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to identify, analyze, and manage potential security risks.
• Assist with hands-on technical validation of established security controls.
• Help plan, track, and execute security-related projects and deliverables.
• Manage security tools to ensure organizational best practices are consistently followed.
• Assist engineering and operations teams with vulnerability management processes.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
Experience: At least two years of experience working in a professional IT or IT Security position. Candidates must possess experience analyzing cyberattacks in an incident response capacity or performing simulated attacks in a penetration testing capacity, alongside experience writing and reviewing technical build documentation, policy documents, and procedure documents.
Technical Skills: Conceptual and practical understanding of cyberattack techniques, detections, and preventions. Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems, virtualization and hypervisors, computer networks, common network protocols, Active Directory, backup and recovery systems, and mainframe systems. Active relevant security certification from a reputable organization such as ISC2, SANS GIAC, or an equivalent body is required.
