We're hiring on behalf of a leading food manufacturer, renowned for its popular snack brands and a collaborative, people-first culture. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Automation Engineer to contribute to maintaining and enhancing sophisticated automation systems within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

The Role

• Lead automation and PLC support for the Ashby site, developing fault-finding capabilities across all shifts.
• Manage automation challenges, including obsolescence upgrades and CAPEX project delivery.
• Collaborate with site teams, suppliers, and contractors to deliver automation projects from concept to completion.
• Drive improvements in automation standards through training and coaching, ensuring safe and consistent processes.
• Support 24/7 emergency cover to ensure automation systems are operational and secure.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Environment, and Hygiene policies.

What You'll Need

• HNC or above in an engineering discipline, or a time-served apprenticeship with strong practical experience.
• A solid background in automation engineering with a strong foundation in electrical engineering and control systems.
• Experience with Siemens (essential) and other PLC systems such as TIA Portal, GX Works, CX Programmer, or Rockwell Automation.
• Familiarity with MES platforms, data collection systems, and operational technology.
• Proven experience in project engineering, management, and involvement in continuous improvement programs.
• Comfort with budgeting, CAPEX processes, and procurement.
