The Role

• Interpret engineering drawings, mark off materials, and prepare plate using oxy-fuel cutting and hand grinding.
• Assemble ship structures, accurately fitting, fairing, and tack-welding components like decks, bulkheads, and frames.
• Fabricate essential ship items including seats, ladders, flooring systems, and watertight doors.
• Form materials using various machine tools such as guillotines, croppers, and mechanical saws.
• Contribute to the production of high-quality steelwork for essential defence projects.

What You'll Need

• Modern Apprenticeship certificate or Trade Papers, along with relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Demonstrable up-to-date fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Understanding and application of core manufacturing processes, including completing tack welding to safety and quality standards.
• Confident and responsible operation of oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment.
• Adherence to SHE principles and risk-assessment requirements in all working conditions.
• Experience working safely in confined spaces or at height, supported by relevant safety certifications.
