Overview
System One is seeking an experienced AWS Python Developer to support the development and modernization of cloud-based applications and data solutions within a large financial services environment.

This role will lead hands on development efforts across AWS technologies, working with business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable solutions aligned with enterprise objectives. The engineer will contribute throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), develop and enhance cloud based applications and data processes, and help teams make effective use of existing enterprise technology assets.

We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!

This role is located at a client site in either Lafayette, LA, Birmingham, AL, Columbia, SC or Knoxville, TN. A hybrid working model is acceptable. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and modernization of cloud-based applications and data solutions within a large financial services environment.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable solutions in AWS technologies.
  • Develop and enhance cloud-based applications and data processes throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Utilize technologies such as Python, SQL, AWS Glue, Lambda, Redshift, and related AWS services to build robust solutions.
  • Apply AI-assisted development techniques and test automation to improve development speed and quality.
  • Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle to support enterprise data needs.
  • Participate in Agile development practices, troubleshooting, testing, and implementing enterprise applications or data solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, developers, and technology teams.
  • Adhere to enterprise development standards and best practices for reusable components and software engineering.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Python software development experience.
  • Hands-on experience in AWS cloud environments with solutions involving AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, ECS, EMR, Redshift, DMS, S3, SQS/SNS, and RDS.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java, with solid SQL proficiency.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile practices.
  • Experience in developing, testing, troubleshooting, and deploying enterprise applications or data solutions.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Ability to employ AI-assisted development tools to accelerate SDLC activities.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with stakeholders, developers, and technical teams.
  • Knowledge of enterprise development standards and software engineering best practices.
  • Financial services experience is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
