Job Description:
NPI Engineer
Location: Austin, TX
Contract Duration: 6-months
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer to support the development and introduction of next-generation liquid cooling mechanical systems for data center infrastructure.
This role requires a strong engineering background and experience supporting products throughout the full product development lifecycle, from early-stage concept and design through prototype development, engineering validation, integration, and production readiness.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong engineer who can work cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and external suppliers to transition new cooling technologies from development into scalable production and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support full-cycle new product development and introduction of liquid cooling mechanical systems and hardware.
  • Partner with engineering teams during early design phases to ensure products can successfully transition from prototype to production.
  • Drive NPI activities including prototype builds, design validation, engineering testing, manufacturing readiness, and product launch.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to mechanical design, integration, materials, manufacturing processes, and product performance.
  • Provide engineering input on design-for-manufacturability (DFM), design-for-assembly (DFA), reliability, and scalability.
  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to support new product builds and production ramp.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for engineering and manufacturing issues discovered during development and qualification.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, validation plans, build documentation, and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate across mechanical engineering, thermal engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management teams.
  • Help establish repeatable processes for transitioning new mechanical products from engineering development into production.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience as an NPI Engineer, Product Development Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or similar engineering role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the full product development lifecycle, from concept/prototype through validation and production.
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems, components, manufacturing processes, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply-chain teams.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex technical problems and driving issues through root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing or introducing liquid cooling, thermal management, HVAC, fluid handling, or data center mechanical systems.
  • Experience with components such as pumps, valves, manifolds, heat exchangers, piping/tubing, fittings, cooling distribution units, or other fluid/mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and external suppliers during prototype and production builds.
  • Knowledge of engineering validation, qualification testing, reliability testing, and production-readiness processes.
  • Experience with DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, GD&T, mechanical drawings, and manufacturing process development.
  • Experience bringing technically complex hardware products from initial design through production ramp and deployment.
