Our hotel

The Balmoral is located at Edinburgh’s most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street, where the Old Town stops and the New Town begins. Our hotel’s majestic clock defines the city’s skyline, and since the day we opened in 1902, it has run three minutes fast to ensure our guests will never miss their train.

Your key responsibilities

Rocco Forte Hotels are a collection of iconic hotels that respects the individuality of location and its team members, encouraging them to be their natural selves while providing a local, authentic experience to our guests.

As our next Head of Event Operations, you will oversee the seamless delivery of every occasion across our meeting and event spaces. From high-profile corporate conferences, lavish gala dinners, to an intimate business gathering, a private cocktail party, and brand activations, you will ensure every event is executed flawlessly.

As a valued part of the Forte family, you will:

  • Lead an outstanding team by setting high standards, providing guidance and development opportunities to achieve consistently high levels of service

  • Seek opportunities to learn and to develop others, driving performance of the department and the hotel

  • Be knowledgeable of our markets, competitors, and business model

  • Ensure the department consistently delivers service standards

  • Use financial and other management principles to deliver business results

  • Take ownership and responsibility for team results and day-to-day operations

  • Provide input into workforce planning and recruitment activities

Who we are looking for

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are passionate about celebrating the individuality of our hotels and guests. We are looking for team members who bring:

  • High personal and professional standards

  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues, guests and management team

  • Thorough practical knowledge of global service standards, the department, individual roles and responsibilities

  • Confidence to lead, encourage, motivate and guide the team to exceed expectations

  • Experience in a 5-star environment is essential, with at least 2 years of managerial experience
