Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled database professional to serve as a Cloud Database Administrator specializing in Oracle database environments. The role involves designing, operating, and securing cloud-based Oracle database services, with a focus on implementing best practices for identity management, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring. The candidate will play a key role in maintaining secure, scalable, and auditable database operations, ensuring seamless integration across security, engineering, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision, configure, and maintain Oracle database servers (versions 19c and 23c) in a cloud environment, enforcing least privilege access through role assignments and security groups.

  • Manage database security using internal governance frameworks, including privileges for system administrators and support teams.

  • Develop and sustain baseline configurations for database security, including encryption, auditing, threat detection, and access controls.

  • Configure, optimize, and maintain high availability solutions such as Active Data Guard and Oracle Golden Gate for minimal lag and maximum resilience.

  • Perform database restores in lower environments using RMAN or logical export/import procedures.

  • Plan and document patching, diagnostics, and repair activities with secure media handling practices.

  • Configure native cloud monitoring and logging tools to ensure operational and access transparency.

  • Tune alerting systems to support audit readiness and operational oversight.

  • Govern elevated access, emergency workflows, and incident handling, ensuring compliance and security protocol adherence.

  • Collaborate effectively across teams to maintain comprehensive documentation and facilitate smooth operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience with Oracle database administration in distributed data platform environments.

  • Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing secure Oracle database environments at enterprise scale.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platform management, including resource tagging, configuration baselines, and inventory management.

  • Hands-on experience with oracle database versions 19c or higher, backups, restores, replication, and high availability solutions.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native monitoring, logging, and incident management workflows.

  • Ability to lead independently, managing capacity, performing troubleshooting, and executing with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with scripting and troubleshooting on Linux platforms.

  • Willingness to work onsite at least two days per week in designated locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in multi-cloud environments (Azure, Google Cloud Platform, AWS).

  • Hands-on experience with Data Guard and solutions such as Exadata.

  • Knowledge of secure media handling for backups and exports.

  • Exposure to enterprise approval and incident/ticketing systems, integration, and CI/CD security guardrails.

  • Additional skills in performance tuning, security, compliance, and cloud automation workflows.

Why This Opportunity May Be Appealing

This role offers the chance to lead enterprise-scale Oracle database management in a cloud environment, with a focus on security and resilience. It provides flexibility with hybrid work arrangements, including onsite presence, and opportunities for professional growth through complex technical challenges. The position supports a dynamic environment where your expertise will ensure the organization maintains secure, efficient, and scalable database operations, with potential pathways to permanent employment.
