Job Description
Installation Engineer Cala Consulting are recruiting for a practical and customer-focused Installation Engineer to join a growing specialist ventilation business. This is a varied role combining site-based technical work with installation support, problem-solving, and customer liaison. It would suit someone with experience in ventilation, construction, building services, electrical, plumbing, heating, surveying or technical sales who wants to develop within a growing technical sector. The Role The Installation Engineer will support the delivery of ventilation solutions from initial site assessment through to installation, testing and completion. You will visit customer properties and project sites, assess practical requirements, interpret drawings or specifications, prepare materials, support or complete installations, and ensure that each system is delivered safely and to the required standard. This role requires strong practical judgement, attention to detail and the confidence to work with customers, contractors and colleagues. Direct ventilation experience is not essential for the right candidate. Transferable building-services or technical experience, together with the ability to learn, solve problems and take ownership of work, will be valued. Key Responsibilities Carry out site visits and technical surveys to assess property, project and installation requirements. Review drawings, specifications and site information, translating technical requirements into clear and practical installation plans. Install or support the installation of ventilation systems, ductwork, fans, controls and associated equipment safely and accurately. Test and commission completed systems, confirming that they operate effectively and meet the required specification and quality standards. Plan each job carefully, checking materials, tools, access requirements and site conditions before work begins. Identify and resolve practical or technical issues on site, escalating more complex matters when specialist input is required. Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, suppliers and internal colleagues, explaining technical information clearly and building strong working relationships. Complete all surveys, job sheets, installation records and commissioning documentation accurately, while following health and safety requirements and maintaining a clean, respectful working environment. Essential Skills and Experience Relevant practical or technical experience gained within ventilation, construction, building services, electrical, plumbing, heating, surveying, technical sales or another closely related field. Strong practical ability and mechanical or technical aptitude, with the confidence to work with tools, equipment and installation components. The ability to understand technical information, drawings or specifications, or clear evidence of being able to learn these quickly. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to deal professionally with customers, contractors and colleagues. A logical, solutions-focused approach to diagnosing problems and identifying workable outcomes on site. Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prepare for jobs and manage competing priorities. Accuracy and attention to detail when completing technical records, job documentation and digital paperwork. The ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively as part of a wider technical and installation team. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to customer and project sites as required. Desirable Direct experience of ventilation, HVAC, indoor air quality or energy-efficient building solutions. Experience installing, testing or commissioning mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating or building-services systems. Experience carrying out site surveys, interpreting project drawings or providing technical advice to customers. Knowledge of relevant Building Regulations and experience working in customers' homes, occupied properties or live construction environments.
