Alpha Capture / Manager Research Professional – Global Hedge Fund, London

Octavius Finance is retained bya leading global hedge fund who are looking to hire an investment professional to join a rapidly growing buy-side alpha capture platform, focused on identifying, evaluating and developing relationships with high-quality external investment professionals.

This is a high-impact role sitting at the intersection of fundamental equity investing, manager research and institutional relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging with investment professionals across the market, assessing the quality and relevance of their investment process, and helping the firm identify differentiated sources of alpha.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

1. Develop and maintain relationships with fundamental long/short equity investors, portfolio managers and analysts across the hedge fund community.
2. Identify high-quality investment talent and differentiated investment ideas through an established alpha capture network.
3. Assess the quality, consistency and relevance of external investment insights and fundamental research.
4. Engage with investors to understand their investment theses, sector views, stock ideas and broader portfolio positioning.
5. Work closely with internal investment teams to determine which external insights may have relevance to the firm's investment process.
6. Build a strong understanding of fundamental L/S equity strategies, managers and investment styles across sectors and geographies.
7. Monitor market developments and maintain a detailed understanding of the competitive landscape across the hedge fund industry.
8. Contribute to the continued development and expansion of the firm's alpha capture ecosystem.

The role offers significant exposure to some of the most sophisticated fundamental equity investors globally, with the opportunity to develop a broad and differentiated understanding of how leading hedge funds generate alpha.

Who We Are Looking For

Our client is open to candidates coming from several backgrounds, provided they have meaningful exposure to fundamental long/short equity managers.

Target backgrounds include:

Buy-Side Alpha Capture / Investment Research

1. Existing alpha capture analysts or investment professionals working within a buy-side alpha capture platform, ideally at a multi-manager platform.
2. Individuals with experience sourcing, evaluating or facilitating external investment ideas.
3. Candidates with a strong understanding of how fundamental L/S equity managers generate and express alpha.

Prime Brokerage / Capital Introduction

1. Capital Introduction professionals from leading bulge-bracket or tier-one investment banks.
2. Individuals who have developed deep relationships with fundamental L/S equity hedge funds and portfolio managers.
3. Strong understanding of hedge fund strategies, investment styles and manager differentiation is highly desirable.

External Allocation / Manager Research

1. Professionals working within external allocation, manager research or investment selection functions.
2. Candidates with meaningful coverage of fundamental L/S equity hedge funds.
3. Experience assessing managers, investment teams, strategies and differentiated sources of alpha would be particularly relevant.

This is not a traditional sales or business development position. The role is fundamentally investment-focused, requiring someone who can understand, assess and translate external investment insight into a valuable resource for an institutional investment platform.
