We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Technician to join our growing team in Austin, Texas. In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for the installation, programming, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of advanced electronic security systems across a diverse range of commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and government environments.
As a Senior Security Technician, you will serve as a technical leader in the field, mentoring junior team members, supporting project delivery, and ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with industry-leading security technologies while playing a key role in delivering complex security projects. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from installation and commissioning to troubleshooting, maintenance, and system upgrades.
The role requires occasional travel to customer sites and project locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, and commission electronic security systems, including:
- Access Control Systems
- CCTV and IP Video Surveillance Systems
- Intrusion Detection Systems
- Intercom and Visitor Management Systems
- Integrated Security Platforms
- Lead installation and service projects from initiation through to successful completion.
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot security hardware and software platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve system faults, network connectivity issues, and equipment failures.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Conduct site surveys and provide technical input during project planning and implementation.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Security Technicians and Apprentices.
- Ensure installations meet customer requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes.
- Complete service reports, project documentation, and as-built drawings accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, customers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
- Perform preventative maintenance, system upgrades, expansions, and service calls.
- Participate in after-hours emergency service support and on-call rotations as required.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively at all customer locations.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience installing and servicing commercial electronic security systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Gallagher, Software House, Genea, and/or Genetec experience is preferred but not required
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background checks and obtain security clearances as required.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
