Job Description

Job Title: AI Architect
Duration: 6+ Months
Location: Remote
Position Summary:
Senior architect-practitioner who designs and builds governed AI capability in partnership with the Senior Director of Data & AI: the enterprise AI platform, the reference architectures every AI project follows, agentic automation embedded in the tools employees already use, and the engineering foundations (evaluation, monitoring, cost telemetry) that let AI pass governance instead of arguing with it. This is a working-architect seat, not a diagram seat: the strategy is set with the Senior Director; this role owns the designs, defends them in review, and writes production code to prove them.
Required Qualifications
8+ years software or solution architecture with continued hands-on delivery; 3+ years designing and building LLM, GenAI, or ML systems that shipped to real users
Demonstrated design authority: reference architectures you authored that other teams and vendors actually followed
Azure depth: AI Foundry or Azure OpenAI, API Management, private endpoints and VNet-integrated services, managed identities, Key Vault
Python and TypeScript proficiency; API-first design; CI/CD discipline
Retrieval-augmented generation and agent frameworks in production, including evaluation and failure-mode handling, not just demos
Governance fluency: you have taken AI workloads through security review, compliance, or audit and can design for evidence
Vendor oversight experience: reviewing and correcting third-party solution designs without derailing delivery
Evidence of measured outcomes: latency, cost, accuracy, or business metrics you can speak to concretely
Preferred Qualifications
Multi-model or AI-gateway platform delivery with chargeback/showback cost models
Microsoft Fabric data science workloads or lakehouse-adjacent AI experience
Microsoft 365 Copilot ecosystem and extensibility experience
Computer vision exposure
Manufacturing or field-operations domain experience
