Job Description

Plumber/Water Hygiene Engineer
Central London
£46,000 - £50,000
My client is looking for a Plumber / Water Hygiene Engineer to join their established building services team, working across a prestigious portfolio of buildings in Central London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified plumber who enjoys a varied role but is happy taking ownership of water hygiene and Legionella compliance. The position will primarily involve monitoring water temperatures, flushing outlets and maintaining accurate compliance records, alongside general plumbing and building maintenance.
You will be based primarily at a large six-storey commercial building with occasional visits to two prestigious Central London properties used for events.
The Role

  • Take responsibility for routine water hygiene and Legionella control activities in line with ACOP L8 and HSG274.
  • Carry out hot and cold water temperature checks, outlet flushing and routine inspections.
  • Maintain accurate water hygiene logbooks, records and compliance documentation.
  • Identify and report any water hygiene issues, ensuring remedial actions are followed up.
  • Undertake general plumbing maintenance, fault-finding and repairs across the buildings.
  • Maintain pipework, valves, taps, showers, sanitary ware and associated water systems.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive maintenance requests as required.
  • Work alongside an established team of engineers, apprentices, carpenters and management.
  • Participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota.
About You
  • Qualified plumber, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Experience in commercial plumbing or building services maintenance.
  • Confident carrying out water hygiene duties, including temperature monitoring, flushing and maintaining logbooks.
  • Knowledge of Legionella control and ACOP L8 requirements.
  • Able to undertake general plumbing repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of compliance tasks.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willing to participate in the on-call rota and obtain SC security clearance.
Working Hours & Package
  • £46,000 - £50,000
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
  • 1 in 4 rota, with £150 standby payment.
  • Plenty of additional overtime available.
  • Access to a pool van if required.
You will join an established team looking after three prestigious Central London buildings, including a large commercial property and two high-profile event venues.
The role offers stable weekday hours, a competitive salary, additional earning potential through overtime and the opportunity to take ownership of an important water hygiene function without the demands of a heavily reactive plumbing position.
