Job description
If you are a Product Management Intern looking for an opportunity to grow your career, Emerson Test & Measurement (T&M) offers hands-on experience where you will work alongside experienced product managers, engineers, and business professionals to help shape software products that solve meaningful customer challenges. In this role, you will gain exposure to product strategy, customer discovery, market analysis, product development, and product launches while contributing to projects that create value for customers and support business objectives. This internship provides an opportunity to develop product management skills, explore innovative technologies including data and AI-driven solutions, and build a strong foundation for a future career in product management.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Support customer and market discovery activities by translating qualitative and quantitative feedback into clear problem statements, user insights, and customer personas.
- Conduct competitive and industry research to identify market trends, emerging technologies, and opportunities for product improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, and other cross-functional teams to clarify product requirements and support product development efforts.
- Assist with evaluating product features, reviewing trade-offs, and ensuring project activities remain aligned with customer needs and product objectives.
- Contribute to product launch preparation through the development of release materials, internal communications, and success metrics.
- Analyze post-launch data and user feedback to identify opportunities for product enhancements and continuous improvement.
- Explore innovative customer workflows enabled by data, analytics, and artificial intelligence technologies.
- Develop and present recommendations, findings, and project outcomes to stakeholders and product leadership.
- Take ownership of a defined project and deliver measurable results throughout the internship experience.
Who You Are:
You build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. You gain the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity. You readily learn through experimentation when tackling new challenges and use both qualitative and quantitative information to make sense of complex situations. You focus on understanding customer needs and apply those insights to create solutions that deliver meaningful value.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Product Management, Business, or a related field
- Interest in understanding how software products are developed, delivered, and adopted by customers.
- Ability to communicate technical and business concepts clearly to a variety of audiences.
- Experience applying analytical thinking, research methods, problem solving, or software development skills through coursework, projects, internships, or other relevant experiences.
- Strong collaboration and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment where priorities may evolve and not every requirement is predefined.
- Legal authorization to work in the country where the internship is located without current or future sponsorship requirements.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Currently pursuing a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Product Management, Business, or a related field
- Exposure to customer research, market analysis, product strategy, product development, or software lifecycle processes.
- Experience using data analysis tools, visualization platforms, or business intelligence solutions.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies, including Agile practices.
- Knowledge of test and measurement systems, embedded technologies, industrial software, or engineering applications.
- Experience creating presentations, demonstrations, or project deliverables for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Interest in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven applications.
Our Culture and Commitment To You:
At Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow. We foster an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and diverse perspectives—because we know that great ideas come from great teams.
