Data Center Technician

Location: New Albany, OH

Pay Rate: $40.00/HR W2

Hours: 4 days/week, 8AM - 8PM or 8PM - 8AM

Duration: 6 months

Description:

Key duties include rack turn-up, copper/fiber cabling, circuit QA testing, and hardware break-fix for hyperscale AI infrastructure. Also handles preventive maintenance

Candidate profile

  • Tenarai has been seeing mostly candidates at the 4-5 year experience level. Tenarai wants more experienced candidates, 5+ years.
  • Tenarai may eventually move some people to Louisiana or Alabama, but this is a nice-to-have and not required.


Required certifications and screening

  • OSHA: Required. It takes a couple of hours online and costs $40-$60. Candidates are expected to obtain it on their own if they aren't already certified.
  • Fiber splicing: Required before starting. It costs $400-$600, and Tenarai will follow up on reimbursement protocol.
  • BICSI: NOT required.
  • Background check: Meta has a specific background process. Tenarai initiates it on their end (HireRight).
  • Drug screen: Not required.


Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts, either 8:00 AM-8:00 PM or 8:00 PM-8:00 AM. Pay is for 11 hours, with two 30-minute breaks.
    • 4 days per week. The days vary and are not the same 4 each week.
  • Rotating day/night shifts. Everyone shares the rotation, and it flips every other week.
    • On-call requirement: frequency and expectations still need to be confirmed by Tenarai
  • Extended shifts are possible during surge/ramp periods. Buyer wasn't aware of when those occur.


Interview process

  • Virtual, over Google Meet. All scheduling is in Eastern Time: 9a-12p and 2p-6:30p.
  • Two interviews, both with Tenarai only (no client):
    1. 30-minute technical interview with a Network Engineer.
    2. 15-minute interview with another Network Engineer to validate the candidate.
  • Decision within 24 hours.
