Job Description

The company was founded in 2016 on the belief that objective, personalized financial advice is essential to living well. Its mission is to empower people to live more enriched lives by delivering a new standard of advice. By removing asset minimums, the company provides holistic planning that goes far beyond investments to address every way money impacts life.
To achieve this, the company leverages a "human-plus-tech" approach, combining the expertise of CFP professionals with cutting-edge AI and automation. This model allows the company to integrate advice into members' entire financial picture-all for an affordable, flat membership fee.
The company's commitment to innovation and member success has earned national recognition, including being ranked the #1 Best Financial Advisory Firm 2025 by USA TODAY and named to Newsweek's list of America's Top Financial Advisory Firms 2025. With an A+ BBB Rating and a Trustpilot "Excellent" score (as of Sept. 16, 2025), the company is focused on redefining the industry for its members and team alike.
The Opportunity
The company is looking for a Staff Product Designer to take ownership of its internal products. The organization relies on dedicated teams across financial planning, sales, support, and investment operations to support tens of thousands of members nationwide. Its bespoke software is essential to their daily workflows.
This is a crucial role for a designer who finds deep satisfaction in untangling complex workflows, designing for dense information architecture, and advocating for internal users.
Stepping into an active and highly energized space, the first mandate is to take over and lead UX research for the company's internal tools. From there, the goal is to architect scalable, intuitive mental models and interfaces that optimize complex daily tasks.
By partnering closely with Product Management and Engineering, this role will transform legacy tools into streamlined workspaces. Ultimately, this work will elevate the staff's ability to operate efficiently without sacrificing the top-tier service members expect.
While the immediate priority is redesigning the core platform to increase financial planner capacity, reduce onboarding friction, and drive business unit economics, the scope of this opportunity also extends to critical tools used across the broader internal ecosystem.
Responsibilities
  • Own the complete design process for the company's internal, web-based software tools, from problem framing and information architecture through UI design, prototyping, and shipping.
  • Translate core planning and operational mental models into clear, intuitive experiences and dense UI patterns that enable the company's unified philosophy to be executed consistently.
  • Untangle legacy information architecture across multiple internal surfaces by consolidating fragmented tools and duplicate actions into logical, efficient workflows.
  • Design comprehensive workflow solutions for planners and sales teams, optimizing how they schedule meetings, capture notes, answer messages, and manage daily tasks.
  • Conduct ongoing research with internal teams to validate interaction patterns, surface unmet workflow needs, and advocate for power users who spend the majority of their day in these tools.
  • Design interfaces that clearly communicate exactly what the tools are doing, giving teams the confidence to rely on automations rather than falling back on manual habits.
  • Make pragmatic design decisions, knowing when to go deep on UX craft and when to ship scrappy, functional solutions that move operational efficiency forward toward business targets.
Requirements
  • Online portfolio required for consideration and must showcase strong information architecture, systems thinking, and complex workflow design rather than pure consumer visual polish.
  • 7+ years of product design experience with a track record of shipping software for data-intensive workflows, internal tools, or specialized professional platforms; fintech experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable leading user research, driving discovery, mapping user journeys, prototyping, creating high-fidelity designs, and partnering with engineering to see designs through production.
  • Ability to showcase how you actively integrate AI capabilities to increase efficiency for yourself as a designer and for the end users of your solutions.
  • Must be a systems thinker who naturally looks for structural patterns, reusable components, and mental models rather than isolated fixes, and can demonstrate how you've solved systemic problems.
  • No-ego teammate who shares work early, collaborates with cross-functional peers to find the best solutions, navigates technical constraints confidently, and knows how to align stakeholders around UX decisions.
  • Highly proficient in Figma and comfortable working within, maintaining, and extending design systems.
  • Experience designing for financial planning, wealth management, or investing is preferred.
Benefits
  • Competitive Compensation: $175,000-$210,000 base salary + bonus
  • Ownership: Equity in a rapidly growing company on the path to becoming the "Next Great Financial Services Company."
  • Flexibility: Remote-first culture-work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Time Off: Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Comprehensive Benefits and Perks: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, disability, paid parental leave, wellness reimbursement, and education reimbursement programs.

*The company was ranked #1 Best Financial Advisory Firm 2025 by USA TODAY in April 2025, in partnership with Statista, which ranked the top 500 RIAs.
