Job Description
The ITAM Analyst III – Software Asset Management supports College Board’s Software Asset Management modernization by managing and improving software contract, entitlement, renewal, usage, ownership, compliance, and vendor data. This role supports software cost optimization, tool rationalization, governed intake, renewal readiness, audit preparation, vendor governance, SAM reporting, and CMDB alignment.
The Analyst III helps ensure software assets are visible, governed, cost-effective, compliant, and aligned to enterprise technology standards. This role partners with ITAM, Procurement, Finance, Security, Legal, Workforce, Endpoint, Support Center, Product, application owners, and vendors to improve software lifecycle governance, reduce unmanaged renewals, support self-service software access, strengthen CMDB alignment, and improve leadership visibility through reliable reporting.
The Analyst III is expected to analyze software data, identify trends and risks, recommend improvements, coordinate with stakeholders, support complex renewals and software reviews, and help improve SAM processes and controls.
The role also requires curiosity and a commitment to keeping up with evolving technology, including SAM platforms, SaaS management tools, Flexera capabilities, automation, AI-enabled productivity tools, software metering, entitlement normalization, CMDB integration, and software governance best practices.
In addition to its primary SAM focus, this role provides Hardware Asset Management (HAM) support at the Reston, VA office, including hardware moves, shipping/receiving coordination, inventory reviews, device recovery efforts, and related physical asset activities.

About the Opportunity
The ITAM Analyst III – Software Asset Management leads operational and analytical work across College Board’s software asset lifecycle. This role helps govern software inventory, license assignments, entitlements, renewals, usage, application ownership, contract records, vendor performance, compliance evidence, software intake, and lifecycle reporting.
The analyst will help advance Software Asset Management modernization by improving data quality, entitlement accuracy, renewal tracking, license visibility, software utilization, compliance readiness, financial transparency, and operational consistency across the software lifecycle. This includes software intake, approval, procurement support, assignment, provisioning coordination, renewal, reclamation, retirement, compliance review, and vendor governance.
This role partners closely with ITAM, Procurement, Finance, Security, Legal, Workforce, Endpoint, Support Center, Product, application owners, vendor partners, and other cross-functional teams to reduce software waste, improve service delivery, strengthen compliance, support reliable workforce operations, and provide leadership with trusted reporting.
This position requires strong analytical thinking, communication, customer service, attention to detail, follow-through, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to work through complex software issues across multiple systems, teams, vendors, and governance processes.
The ITAM Analyst III is expected to apply technology learning in practical ways by leading improvements that reduce manual work, improve software data accuracy, strengthen audit readiness, improve reporting, increase license reuse and reclamation, and enhance the employee software request and fulfillment experience.
This role also supports HAM operations at the Reston, VA office, helping ensure hardware moves, shipping/receiving, inventory reviews, and device recovery activities run smoothly.
