Job Description

Position: AEM Architect
Location: Charlotte, NC - Hybrid Duration - 14 months

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced AEM Architect to design, develop, and lead enterprise Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AEM architecture, Apache Sling, OSGi, HTL/Sightly, Java, REST APIs, and modern CI/CD practices.

The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, solution architects, DevOps teams, and other technical teams to design scalable, secure, high-performance digital experience platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and define enterprise AEM architecture and technical solutions.
  • Develop scalable and maintainable AEM applications using Apache Sling, OSGi, HTL/Sightly, and Java.
  • Define AEM application architecture, content architecture, component frameworks, templates, workflows, and integrations.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party systems with AEM.
  • Design reusable AEM components, services, servlets, models, schedulers, and workflows.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to AEM development teams.
  • Review existing AEM implementations and recommend improvements for performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Design integrations between AEM and enterprise applications, APIs, and external platforms.
  • Establish development standards, coding practices, design patterns, and architectural guidelines.
  • Work with DevOps teams to implement and improve CI/CD pipelines for AEM applications.
  • Support automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex AEM production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and code reviews.
  • Ensure AEM solutions follow enterprise security, performance, and development standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the complete SDLC.
  • Mentor developers and provide guidance on AEM best practices and architecture.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) development and architecture.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AEM architecture and application development.
  • Strong knowledge of Apache Sling and OSGi.
  • Strong experience with HTL/Sightly and AEM component development.
  • Strong Java/J2EE development experience.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
  • Strong understanding of AEM Sling Models, Servlets, OSGi Services, Workflows, Templates, and Components.
  • Experience with AEM Dispatcher and caching concepts.
  • Strong understanding of AEM repository/JCR concepts.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.

CI/CD & DevOps

  • Experience implementing modern CI/CD practices for AEM applications.
  • Experience with tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with automated build, deployment, testing, and release management.
  • Knowledge of Maven and automated code-quality tools.
  • Experience with cloud-based AEM deployments is preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS).
  • Experience with Adobe Cloud Manager.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Experience Cloud and related Adobe products.
  • Experience with GraphQL or modern API-based integrations.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or other modern frontend technologies.
  • Experience with Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of CDN, caching, and performance optimization.
  • Experience leading large-scale AEM implementations and migrations.
  • Experience with AEM upgrades and migration from legacy versions to modern AEM platforms.
