-Sets thermal cooling strategies and coordinates mechanical architecture design for product development from feasibility studies to production.
-Utilizes advanced computer assisted design (CAD) tools (e.g., ProE, SolidWorks) to guide and review 3D models and detailed mechanical designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine solutions.
-Influences the mechanical design of electronics enclosures, or embedded systems, ensuring alignment with hardware systems and design requirements.
-Identifies and reviews the need for thermal analysis and directs the resources to conduct the analysis.
Structural and Reliability Analysis:
-Evaluates the results of stress analysis, strain analysis, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to determine the mechanical strength and reliability of materials and components, identifying challenges to address.
-Identifies and determines plans to address potential points of failure, conducting root cause and corrective action analysis to refine designs and improve reliability.
-Reviews the results of thermal analysis and uses it to set direction for optimization per the product requirements.
Manufacturing and Production Support:
-Establishes design guidelines to ensure designs are manufacturable within cost and production constraints, working closely with Operations and external manufacturers to support the transition from prototype to production.
-Oversees the design development process, ensuring alignment with project timelines and collaborating across teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
Product Testing and Quality Assurance:
-Provides guidance for reliability assessments of materials and designs to ensure products meet company standards.
-Drives implementation of functional and performance goals for prototype build and testing processes, and identifies areas for improvement.
-Mentors team in test data analysis to detect bugs, defects, and failure trends.
Research and Innovation:

-Collaborates with suppliers to facilitate development of high-quality components and assemblies, ensuring they meet performance and cost goals.
-Works directly with manufacturing to transition designs to production.
Project Management:
-Contributes to long-term strategy for the mechanical design aspects of engineering projects.
-Establishes processes for initial concept through production, and coordination of resources, timelines, and design reviews.
-Reviews documentation of design processes and decisions ensuring documents are thorough and aligned to best practices.
-Delivers clear communication to stakeholders and ensures alignment with project objectives and schedules.
Additional Responsibilities (as needed)
Environmental Test Engineering:
-Leads the mechanical standards team, setting the strategic direction for ensuring all product designs meet global regulatory and industry standards, and drives standards initiatives at the line of business (LOB) level.
-Coordinates and prioritizes environmental testing across multiple product lines, ensuring thorough testing and certification processes are met while managing cross-team collaboration.
-Works with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align on standards strategies, advocating for regulatory best practices while balancing business objectives and product timelines.
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; substantial experience designing and developing mechanical products or systems.
