Variable Products Accountant

Location: Newport Beach, CA (4 days onsite)

Schedule: Full-time, with occasional overtime required on a rotating monthly schedule

Rate: $37-42/hour

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support financial reporting, fund operations, and reconciliation activities. This role is ideal for an early-career to mid-level accountant who enjoys working with data, maintaining accuracy, and meeting critical reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and prepare shareholder and financial reports, including financial statements, notes, schedules of investments, fair value measurements, derivatives, and other reporting schedules.
• Assist with transfer agency functions, including fund share activity processing, wire transactions, and outstanding share reconciliations.
• Update and maintain daily unit pricing for mutual funds and separate accounts.
• Perform audit confirmation reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Research accounting issues and support resolution of reporting and operational exceptions.
• Work closely with team members to ensure timely and accurate quarterly and annual reporting deliverables.

Qualifications

Required

• Accounting experience, preferably 3 to 5 years.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Access.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Adaptable and flexible in a changing environment.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Financial services or investment accounting experience.
• Knowledge of investment accounting and reporting.

Additional Information

• Financial services experience is not required but would be considered a plus.
• This position primarily utilizes Excel; no specialized technical systems experience is required.
• Overtime may be needed during month-end or reporting cycles on a rotating basis.
