Quick Overview
Job Description
Electrical Controls Drafter
Join Client’s engineering team as an Electrical Controls Drafter, where you’ll play a critical role in producing high-quality electrical schematics and documentation for UL-listed power distribution equipment. This position is primarily focused on electrical drafting using SOLIDWORKS Electrical, supporting UL508A, UL891 assemblies and control circuits integrated into switchboards and power systems. You’ll work closely with controls engineers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing engineers to ensure drawings are accurate, compliant, and aligned with Client’s evolving design standards.
Responsibilities
- Electrical Controls Drafting: Create, modify, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and related documentation using SOLIDWORKS Electrical for control panels and power distribution equipment.
- Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, controls engineers, and manufacturing engineers to translate design intent into complete, accurate, and buildable electrical documentation.
- Drawing Quality & Consistency: Ensure electrical drawings meet internal expectations for clarity, accuracy, organization, and revision control across all projects.
- Standards Development & Ownership: Actively contribute to the development, refinement, and maintenance of internal drafting standards, symbol libraries, templates, and best practices within SOLIDWORKS Electrical.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve drafting workflows, documentation quality, and tool usage to support efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Design Intent & Technical Understanding: Apply practical electrical and controls knowledge to understand the purpose behind designs, enabling informed drafting decisions and constructive technical input during reviews.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience drafting electrical schematics using SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2D or 3D.
- Background or hands-on experience with electrical control panels or power distribution equipment.
- Familiarity with UL508A requirements or UL-listed panel designs.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, one-lines, and control logic.
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience in electrical drafting or control circuits.
Required Skills
Meaningful, Complex Work: Draft real-world power distribution and controls systems used in AI and data center infrastructure, with technical depth beyond repetitive production work.
Collaborative Team: Join a hands-on engineering organization that values clear communication, technical details, and making designs right.
Ownership & Influence: Help shape drafting standards, templates, and best practices as Client scales, with your experience directly impacting how work is done.
