United Concrete, a 70-year leader in precast concrete serving New England, is hiring a Quality Control Supervisor in Wallingford, CT to own our QC program, documentation, and DOT/PCI/NPCA compliance.
This is a primarily office-based role (approx. 80% office / 20% plant floor) focused on records management, audit readiness, data review, and process improvement.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Reports to: Quality Control Manager
What You'll Do
- Own the plant's QC documentation system and keep all records complete, accurate, and audit-ready
- Review and approve technician test records and inspection reports against specs and shop drawings
- Maintain records for raw materials, mill certs, equipment calibrations, and test results
- Manage NCR, RFI, and site inspection logs through closure
- Prepare and submit documentation packages to DOT and transportation agencies
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QC reports
- Serve as primary contact for DOT inspections and facilitate PCI and NPCA plant certification audits
- Plan and execute internal audits; track corrective actions to closure
- Analyze test data and inspection trends; lead root cause investigations and corrective actions
- Conduct regular plant floor walkthroughs to verify procedures and spot-check testing and inspections
- Coordinate daily QC technician assignments and train on documentation and procedural updates
- 5+ years of QA/QC experience in precast concrete, construction materials, or related manufacturing
- Experience managing QC documentation for DOT or transportation agency review
- Experience facilitating DOT, PCI, and/or NPCA audits
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
- Strong knowledge of concrete materials, ASTM/AASHTO test methods, and precast inspection tolerances
- Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel) and quality documentation software
- Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and written communication
- High school diploma required; technical or 4-year degree preferred
- NPCA/PCI Level I/II or DOT QC Inspector certification preferred
