We are seeking an experienced EPC Project Manager to join the Construction Strategy Team, delivering critical equipment investments across major UK electricity transmission programmes.
You will take ownership of multiple projects covering the procurement, manufacture, delivery and handover of high-value, long-lead equipment. Working with the Senior Project Manager, engineering specialists, original equipment manufacturers and key stakeholders, you will guide projects from development and sanction through tendering, delivery, testing, commissioning and close-out.
The role directly supports the timely supply of essential equipment for the transmission investment portfolio for T3 and beyond. It offers broad exposure across commercial management, global supply chains, manufacturing assurance, logistics, project governance and regulated infrastructure delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead a portfolio of equipment procurement and delivery projects through pre-construction, sanction, execution and close-out in line with the Network Development Process.
• Manage project performance across scope, programme, cost, quality, risk, budget and governance.
• Act as NEC Project Manager, or equivalent, maintaining contractual compliance and effective delivery assurance.
• Support contracting strategy, tendering and the development of clear, robust Works Information.

Provide regular project status reports giving accurate financial forecasting, SHESQ performance, milestone progress & risk management data
Act as/support the NEC Project Manager (or equivalent for other contract types).
Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through positive engagement working pro-actively to avoid issues. Supported by a matrix organisation manage third party issues, land, consents, grantors, public relations, and local community stakeholder relationships to preserve the clients reputation.
Where relevant, effectively lead, manage and co-ordinate the preparation & submission of a compliant Development Consent Order (DCO) application.
Coordinate equipment allocation across projects to improve delivery certainty, optimise portfolio use and minimise storage requirements.
Manage OEM contractors, logistics providers and global supply-chain requirements.
Oversee contractor delivery, site compliance, factory acceptance testing and manufacturing assurance.
Build trusted stakeholder relationships and provide clear reporting, forecasting and performance updates.
Ensure compliance with CDM, SHESQ, safety, environmental, regulatory and organisational requirements.
Own project documentation, testing, commissioning, asset handover and close-out activities.
Mentor junior colleagues and maintain relevant professional authorisation standards.
Essential Experience and Knowledge
• Strong project management experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, engineering, construction, manufacturing or another complex delivery environment.
• Demonstrable responsibility for scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality and delivery performance.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Sound commercial, contract-management and project-governance capability.
• Experience of financial forecasting, budget management, reporting and performance management.
• Clear communication, negotiation, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• A customer-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Understanding of relevant safety and environmental legislation.
• A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to project and supplier locations.
Desirable Experience and Knowledge
• Experience working with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts, ideally as Project Manager or in a contract-management role.
• Knowledge of electricity transmission, substations, high-voltage equipment or power-system infrastructure.
• Experience procuring or delivering long-lead equipment such as transformers, switchgear, reactors, cables or associated electrical assets.
• Familiarity with EPC, OEM or direct equipment-purchase delivery models.
• Experience of factory acceptance testing, manufacturing assurance, international logistics or global supply chains.
• Knowledge of RIIO, regulated utilities or major UK infrastructure investment programmes.
• Relevant professional membership or recognised project management accreditation.
