1:1 Healthcare Assistant (Male - Consistent Staffing Requirement)

Location: Care Home Setting

Support Type: 1:1 Behavioural Support

Hours: As required by the care home

Start Date: Immediate / subject to availability

PAY RATE : £15.24 - £17.61 an hour

Role Purpose

To provide safe, consistent, and person‑centred 1:1 support to a resident who presents challenging behaviours, including verbal aggression and discriminatory remarks. The HCA will work closely with the care home team to maintain safety, reduce distress, and promote positive engagement.

Key Responsibilities :

• Provide continuous 1:1 supervision to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the resident and surrounding staff/residents.
• Use de‑escalation techniques, calm communication, and professional boundaries to manage challenging behaviours.
• Maintain a non‑reactive, professional approach when faced with discriminatory or racist remarks.
• Support the resident with daily living tasks, personal care (if required), mobility, and engagement in meaningful activities.
• Monitor and record behavioural patterns, triggers, and incidents in line with care home policies.
• Work collaboratively with senior staff, nurses, and management to follow behavioural support plans.
• Ensure all care is delivered in accordance with safeguarding, dignity, respect, and professional conduct standards.
• Maintain consistent communication with the care home team and report concerns promptly

• Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours, mental health needs, or cognitive impairment.
• Strong behaviour‑management and de‑escalation skills.
• Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional under pressure.
• Experience working in care homes or similar environments.
• Understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and incident reporting.
• Reliable, consistent, and able to build therapeutic rapport with the resident.
