IT Systems & Support Engineer

Sydney CBD $120k - $140k + Super + 10% Bonus

Talenza is partnering with a well-established Australian business undergoing a significant technology transformation. After working with the same MSP for almost a decade, the organisation has made the strategic decision to bring more capability in-house and is now looking for a senior technical professional to become their primary IT presence in Sydney.

This is far more than a traditional support role. You'll be the escalation point for complex technical issues, taking ownership across infrastructure, networking, security and Microsoft cloud technologies, while working closely with a broader technology team based offshore.

As the most senior technical resource on the ground in Sydney, you'll be responsible for resolving complex Tier 2/3 issues while maintaining and improving core infrastructure and security platforms.

You'll work in an environment that is heavily invested in Microsoft technologies, with a strong Azure footprint and modern cloud-first approach.

• Act as the escalation point for complex technical incidents and major issues.
• Administer and support Azure, Microsoft 365 and core infrastructure platforms.
• Manage networking, systems administration and security-related activities.
• Support identity, access management and endpoint security initiatives.
• Work closely with the offshore Service Desk team, who manage most Tier 1 support activities.
• Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure, processes and documentation.
• Provide occasional hands-on support for laptops, meeting room technology and onsite user issues when required.

We're looking for someone who enjoys operating across infrastructure, cloud, networking and security, and who is comfortable working autonomously in a lean environment.

Essential Experience

• Strong Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 experience.
• Solid infrastructure and systems administration background.
• Strong networking knowledge and troubleshooting capability.
• Security experience beyond traditional desktop support.
• Experience supporting and resolving Tier 2 and Tier 3 issues.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Highly Regarded

• MSP or managed services experience.
• Exposure to security tooling and security operations.
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications.

This role is based full-time onsite in Sydney CBD. While much of the day-to-day support is handled by the offshore Service Desk team, the business requires a dedicated technical presence in the office to support staff and act as the primary escalation point when needed.
