Principal Engineer – Electrical Engineering (Power) | Cumbria, United Kingdom | Hybrid | Up to £57,500

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop design solutions to meet agreed time, cost, and quality milestones.
  • Manage requirements and acceptance criteria for systems and products.
  • Understand and support contractual and performance requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Produce essential design documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and calculations.
  • Provide technical support for integrated performance, acceptance activities, and supplier equipment.
  • Contribute to bid and proposal development by estimating scope and resources.

What You'll Need

  • BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent qualification, with CEng status or eligibility.
  • Demonstrable experience across the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Expertise in power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics.
  • In-depth understanding of Power System Architecture, Generation and Distribution, or Protection and Co-ordination.
  • Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems.
  • Experience working to industry codes and standards in a relevant engineering role.
