Job Description

Coventry City Football Club is looking for an enthusiastic EDI Coordinator with a genuine interest in equality, diversity and inclusion, and a desire to build a career in this field.

Working closely with the Club’s EDI lead, you will help coordinate activities that make the Club a more inclusive place for staff, supporters and the wider community. You will also support our progress towards the Premier League’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Standard (PLEDIS).

Previous EDI experience is not essential. We welcome applications from people at the beginning of their careers or looking to move into this area. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your organisational skills, your genuine interest in this area and commitment to helping people feel welcome, respected and included.

The Club’s EDI lead will retain responsibility for the overall strategy and direction. You will receive guidance and support as you develop your knowledge, build confidence and gradually take greater ownership of activities within the role. There will be opportunities to contribute your ideas and make the role your own as you grow.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the Club’s EDI lead in delivering the EDI Strategy and Action Plan.

  • Coordinate work towards PLEDIS, including collecting evidence, maintaining records and tracking progress.

  • Organise meetings, prepare notes and follow up on agreed actions.

  • Plan and coordinate EDI initiatives both internally and externally.

  • Support the organisation of EDI training, awareness sessions and events.

  • Help prepare communications, resources and campaigns that promote equality, diversity and inclusion.

  • Assist with gathering and organising equality monitoring data and preparing progress updates, with guidance.

  • Work with colleagues across the Club to support inclusive practices and encourage participation in EDI activities.

  • Support relationships with community organisations, external partners and relevant networks.

  • Help keep EDI policies, documents and resources organised and up to date.

  • Bring ideas for initiatives that help staff, supporters and the wider community feel welcome and included.

What We’re Looking For

You do not need to be an EDI expert or have worked in football before. We are looking for someone who has:

  • A genuine interest in equality, diversity and inclusion, and a willingness to learn.

  • An understanding of why inclusion matters, gained through personal experience, education, volunteering, work or independent learning.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks and follow up on actions.

  • Clear communication skills and a thoughtful, respectful approach to working with others.

  • Attention to detail and confidence using everyday IT tools, including documents and spreadsheets.

  • The ability to handle sensitive information with care and discretion.

  • A proactive approach, a willingness to ask questions and the confidence to contribute ideas.

  • A commitment to developing their skills and building a career in EDI.

Previous experience in administration, coordinating activities, community work or supporting projects may be helpful, but is not essential. You do not need a formal EDI qualification to apply.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to begin or develop your career in EDI within a professional football club, with support and guidance from the Club’s EDI lead.

You will gain practical experience, contribute to our progress towards PLEDIS and help make a meaningful difference across the Club and its community. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and shape your contribution to the role.

If you have a genuine interest in inclusion and the enthusiasm to learn, we would love to hear from you.
