Solution Architect

Role Overview

We are seeking technically capable and highly collaborative Solution Architects to support application modernization efforts for a large financial services organization. The role requires strong architecture experience, communication, leadership, and the ability to work through technical decisions and trade-offs across multiple teams in a matrixed environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and implementing modern applications, with a strong background in development or data engineering and experience integrating legacy systems with modern cloud environments.

Required Skills

• 15+ years of experience assessing, designing, and implementing modern applications

• Strong solution architecture and technical leadership experience

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to drive technical decisions and resolve design trade-offs

• Experience creating architecture diagrams for hybrid on-premises and cloud environments

• Experience developing technical backlogs and user stories

• Experience documenting N-tier architecture layers including authentication, caching, data stores, and related components

• Strong understanding of on-premises Java architectures

• Familiarity with WebSphere and integration with mainframe environments including DB2 and VSAM

• Experience with on-premises to AWS cloud migration and integration

• Understanding of cloud migration patterns including authentication, middleware, data stores, event patterns, caching, and telemetry

• Understanding of serverless architecture patterns

• Experience with data migration

• Background in software development or data engineering

• Experience integrating legacy systems, including mainframe environments

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting modernization initiatives within large financial services organizations

• Experience working in highly matrixed enterprise environments

• Experience with hybrid cloud architecture and modernization strategies

• Experience working across multiple technical teams and stakeholders

• Experience with AWS serverless and event-driven architectures

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, design, and support implementation of modern application architectures.

• Develop architecture depictions for hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.

• Create and maintain technical documentation covering N-tier architecture layers, authentication, caching, data stores, and related components.

• Develop and maintain technical backlogs and user stories.

• Evaluate architectural options and drive technical decisions through collaboration with multiple teams.

• Support modernization and migration of on-premises Java applications to AWS.

• Define and apply appropriate migration patterns for authentication, middleware, data stores, event processing, caching, and telemetry.

• Support serverless architecture and implementation patterns.

• Support data migration initiatives between legacy and modern platforms.

• Collaborate across development, data engineering, infrastructure, and other technical teams to deconflict requirements and architectural decisions.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance while balancing competing technical perspectives and project requirements.

Education Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
