Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Platform Engineer with a strong background in Microsoft SQL Server, cloud database technologies, infrastructure automation, and database platform engineering.

The ideal candidate will have a traditional SQL Server DBA background and have evolved into a database engineering role, focusing on automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), platform development, and scalable database solutions.

This role goes beyond traditional database administration. You will be responsible for engineering, building, automating, and maintaining reusable database platforms that enable efficient, reliable, and self-service database provisioning and management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable database platforms using Microsoft SQL Server.
• Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, PowerShell, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration, deployment, patching, and routine operational activities.
• Build reusable database platform components, automation frameworks, and self-service solutions.
• Support cloud database environments, preferably Microsoft Azure, with AWS experience also considered.
• Design, implement, and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
• Improve database reliability, availability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
• Develop automation scripts and workflows to reduce manual DBA activities and standardize database operations.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and application engineering teams to deliver reliable database services.
• Troubleshoot complex database and platform issues and implement long-term engineering solutions.
• Document platform architecture, automation processes, deployment standards, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong experience with database engineering, platform development, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, and/or Ansible.
• Experience with cloud database platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure; AWS experience is also acceptable.
• Strong understanding of database High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), backup, recovery, and business continuity.
• Experience automating database provisioning, configuration, deployment, and maintenance.
• Ability to design reusable automation solutions and self-service database capabilities.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to clearly explain hands-on technical projects, engineering decisions, and implementation details.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Oracle Database or other relational database technologies.
• Experience working in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated deployment practices.
• Experience developing standardized database services for enterprise environments.
