Sr. AI Software Developer with Security Clearance

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior AI Software Developer for a Hybrid position in Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor Township, NJ supporting a federal government customer. The Senior AI Software Developer will design, develop, and modernize microservices-based applications that support real-time, mission-critical transportation systems. This role offers the opportunity to work in an Agile/SAFe environment, leveraging AI-assisted development tools and modern DevSecOps practices to support programs that impact millions of travelers nationwide. Responsibilities of the Senior AI Software Developer Include:

• Lead Agile sprint planning activities, mentor development teams, and provide technical leadership to ensure successful project execution
• Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications using modern software engineering best practices
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, systems engineers, and cross-functional teams within an Agile/SAFe environment to deliver scalable software solutions
• Develop clean, maintainable, and testable code while supporting CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps initiatives, automated testing, and system integrations
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance software development, testing, debugging, performance optimization, and continuous improvement efforts Qualifications of the Senior AI Software Developer Include:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with 8+ years of relevant software development experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices-based systems
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, C++, or a similar language within a Linux-based environment
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and modern software architecture principles
• Experience with or exposure to AI/ML-enabled systems, intelligent platforms, automation technologies, or AI-assisted development tools
• Must be able to pass a government background check and obtain and maintain a Public Trust government clearance Compensation of the Senior AI Software Developer Includes:
• Salary range: $150,000 - 170,000
