Transit Bus Electrification Specialist

AlphaGov is engaging a Transit Bus Electrification Specialist for current transit-agency battery-electric bus and depot charging work. You will advise on bus technology selection, depot charging strategy, block scheduling impacts, and facility readiness for zero-emission fleets.

What you'll do

• Assess transit routes, blocks, and duty cycles for battery-electric or other zero-emission bus suitability
• Recommend bus technology, battery sizing, and charging strategies (depot, opportunity, pantograph)
• Plan depot yard layouts, charger counts, power needs, and phased cutovers that protect service
• Analyze maintenance, training, spare ratios, and workforce impacts of fleet electrification
• Support capital plans, funding narratives, and FTA or state transit electrification applications
• Brief transit operations, maintenance, and executive leaders on tradeoffs and implementation risks
• Contribute qualifications and past-performance narrative to AlphaGov proposals when you authorize naming

Required

• Demonstrated experience with transit bus electrification, zero-emission bus planning, or depot charging design
• Working knowledge of battery-electric bus operations, block scheduling impacts, and depot power needs
• Ability to produce recommendations transit operations and facilities leaders can implement
• Comfortable as a 1099 project-based consultant, remote-first with occasional depot or agency visits

Nice to have

• Transit agency, OEM, or consulting experience on BEB, FCEB, or depot electrification projects
• Familiarity with FTA Low-No, TIRCP, or state transit electrification funding programs
• Experience with managed charging, pantograph, or in-route opportunity charging systems
