Job Description
About us
Pickle is a talent partner for fast-growing businesses. We help ambitious founders and leadership teams hire exceptional people across operations, product, technology, customer success, commercial, finance, and executive leadership.
We specialise in identifying high-quality permanent and contractor talent that can make an immediate impact, supporting businesses through key growth stages with a thoughtful, consultative approach to hiring. Whether it's a critical leadership appointment or building out an entire function, we work as an extension of our clients' teams to find people who combine the right skills, mindset, and cultural fit.
We believe great hiring goes beyond matching CVs to job descriptions. It's about understanding how businesses operate, what success looks like, and connecting them with people who will help them grow for the long term.
About our client and the role
Location: Remote first
Contract: Employed, Full-time hours
The company
A profitable, growing UK consumer technology business operating in a high-trust financial category. The company runs a portfolio of consumer products with significant transaction volume across the UK and North America, and is building toward a next-generation platform that converts occasional, moment-driven users into habitual year-round customers. The business funds its own growth from a strong balance sheet rather than external burn, and is entering its most ambitious product phase.
Charity, Mosque & Community Partnerships · UK based, Birmingham-leaning · Remote-first with regular UK travel
The role
This is a new business role. You are accountable for generating and developing new charity, mosque and partnership opportunities, and for the growth those partnerships deliver on the platforms we operate. Partner agreements, fee tiers and platform access are decided by the platform owner. Your job is to find the opportunity, build the relationship, shape the commercial recommendation and carry it through onboarding into a live, performing campaign.
They build and operate the technology behind MyTenNights, MyTenDays, MyFridays, MyFajr and GiveMatch, which together have facilitated hundreds of millions in donations across a global network of charities and donors. We have facilitated hundreds of millions in donations across a global network of charities and donors through MyTenNights, MyTenDays, MyFridays and GiveMatch. The infrastructure is built. The opportunity now is distribution, and this role exists to drive it.
You will report to the Head of Commercial & Partnerships and own your own pipeline end to end.
This is not an inbound-led role. You will build your own pipeline through proactive outbound, your existing network and face-to-face relationship building with charity, mosque and community leaders. Trust in this market is earned in person, so regular UK travel and attendance at relevant community and sector events are core parts of the job, not extras.
What you will own
New business generation
You own the new-business number. You are accountable for generating and closing partnerships that contribute meaningful GTV and commercial value. You decide who to target, build the pipeline to reach them and close the business.
Prospecting and network-led acquisition
Structured outbound across email, phone, LinkedIn, events and introductions, combined with the relationships and referrals your network unlocks. You are expected to create your own opportunities and to keep creating them once early warm routes are exhausted.
Face-to-face relationship building
Regular time on the road across UK cities with significant Muslim and charity communities, meeting mosque committees, charity leadership and community organisations in person. You will represent the client at conferences, fundraising events and community gatherings, and turn those rooms into pipeline.
Full opportunity ownership.
Prospecting, discovery, solution shaping, recommendation, onboarding and first campaign. You run the process, set the next step at every stage and drive opportunities forward without being chased. Commercial terms are confirmed in writing by the platform owner before they are put to a partner, and you work within the pricing framework you are given..
Recommendation and approval discipline.
You build the commercial case for each partner, including proposed fee tier and terms, and put it forward for approval. Getting a clean, well-evidenced recommendation approved quickly, and never committing outside an approved framework, is a core skill of this role.
Pipeline and forecasting discipline
Maintain a healthy qualified pipeline against target with accurate, current data in HubSpot. Every open opportunity has a clear owner, value, stage, close date and next action. Your forecast is one the business can plan against.
Ecosystem selling
Sell the wider client ecosystem rather than a single product. Understand what a partner is trying to achieve, identify the broader and longer-term opportunity inside the account, and position the combination of products and campaigns that delivers it.
Commercial judgement
Decide where your time is best spent. Prioritise organisations and segments by quality and potential value rather than volume, qualify out early when the fit is not there, and bring a view on which segments we should be pursuing next.
Senior stakeholder navigation
Build credibility and trust with trustees, executive directors, imams, mosque committees and community leaders. Map decision makers early, build multiple relationships within an organisation and navigate governance-heavy buying processes with patience and structure.
Handover into Customer Success
Close is the start, not the end. Hand over cleanly with the full context of the deal: what the partner is trying to achieve, what was promised, the campaign objectives and the expansion opportunities you identified during the sale.
Feedback loop into Product and Growth
You are the front line of the market. Surface recurring partner needs, objections, blockers and competitive signals in a structured way so Product and Growth can act on them.
What success looks like
- New business signed against target, with a clear contribution to GTV and commercial performance.
- A qualified pipeline that consistently covers target, weighted towards high-value opportunities rather than volume.
- Strong conversion through the funnel, with a shortening time to close as you build market credibility.
- A meaningful proportion of closed business self-sourced through outbound and your own network.
- Partnerships that grow after signature, because the expansion potential was identified and handed over during the sale.
- HubSpot that is accurate enough for the leadership team to forecast from without checking.
- Product and Growth acting on market insight that came from you.
How performance is measured
Core focus: new business generated, pipeline quality and value, conversion, and commercial contribution. Activity matters, but it is an input, not the measure of success.
- Number and value of partnerships taken live against target.
- GTV generated by partnerships you sourced, through their first campaign cycle.
- Value and quality of qualified pipeline against target coverage.
- Recommendations approved first time, and speed from recommendation to live.
- Proportion of pipeline and live partnerships that is self-sourced.
- Forecast accuracy and CRM data quality.
- Quality of handover and post-launch partner performance.
- Value and quality of qualified pipeline generated against target coverage.
- Conversion rate by stage and average deal value.
- Proportion of pipeline and closed business that is self-sourced.
- Forecast accuracy and CRM data quality.
- Quality of handover and post-signature partner performance
The person
You have a track record of winning new business in a consultative, relationship-led environment, and you are motivated by building something from a standing start rather than managing an inherited book.
You are:
- Self-generating: you build your own pipeline and do not wait for leads to arrive.
- Relationship-led: you build trust quickly with senior people and are comfortable doing it face to face, in their environment.
- Commercially sharp: you can tell the difference between a busy pipeline and a valuable one, and you prioritise accordingly.
- Structured: you run a disciplined process with clear qualification, clean CRM data and reliable forecasting.
- Consultative: you sell an outcome and an ecosystem, not a feature list.
- Resilient: long, governance-heavy sales cycles and quiet weeks do not knock you off your process.
- High ownership: you take responsibility for the number and for everything that affects it, including what happens after close.
- Culturally fluent: you understand, or can quickly learn, how charities, mosques and community-led organisations make decisions and what earns their trust.
Essential
- Demonstrable experience closing new business in B2B sales, partnerships or business development.
- Evidence that you have personally sourced and closed business, rather than only worked pre-qualified or inbound leads.
- Experience selling into organisations with multiple stakeholders and committee or board-led decision making.
- Comfort building relationships face-to-face and travelling regularly across the UK.
- Disciplined CRM and pipeline management, ideally in HubSpot.
- Right to work in the UK and based in the UK.
Highly desirable
- An existing network across UK charities, mosques or Muslim community organisations that you can activate from day one.
- Experience selling into mission-driven, faith-based or community-led organisations.
- Understanding of Ramadan and seasonal fundraising dynamics and how they shape charity planning cycles.
- Experience in SaaS, fintech, payments or charity technology.
- Use of a qualification framework such as MEDDICC or BANT to improve win rates.
Particularly exciting if you can evidence
- A deal you sourced, shaped and closed end to end, especially where the route in was not obvious.
- A segment, vertical or partnership model you opened up that the business had not previously sold into.
- A relationship you built in person that turned into repeatable deal flow or referrals.
- An account you grew significantly after the initial sale because you spotted the wider opportunity early.
What this role is not
- Not an inbound or lead-following role. You define the target list and build the pipeline.
- Not an account management role. Retention and delivery sit with Customer Success. Your focus is new business.
- Not a single-product sales job. You sell an ecosystem.
- Not a desk-only role. Time in front of partners is an expectation.
- Not a contracting or pricing role. Partner agreements, fee tiers and platform access are decided by the platform owner. You build the case, the relationship and the momentum.
Location and travel
UK based and remote-first. Birmingham or the West Midlands is a strong advantage given the concentration of charity, mosque and community organisations in the region, but we are flexible on location for the right person.
Regular UK travel is a standing expectation of the role, including evening and occasional weekend events where community activity happens. Travel intensity increases around key fundraising periods, particularly in the run-up to and during Ramadan.
Reporting and working relationships
You will report to the Head of Commercial & Partnerships and work closely with Customer Success on handover and expansion, and with Product and Growth on market feedback and campaign support.
This is a highly autonomous role. You will have significant freedom over how you build and run your pipeline, and clear accountability for the commercial outcome.
Working environment and expectations
We are a remote-first team with regular meetups in London. We focus on trust, flexibility and high performance, with core hours for collaboration.
We are also a small, fast-moving team. Priorities can change quickly, information is not always complete and there will be periods where the pace and workload are demanding, particularly around peak campaign seasons. You will have significant autonomy, but that comes with accountability for outcomes.
You need to thrive on:
- Ambiguity: making sensible decisions with incomplete information, getting moving and surfacing important uncertainties as you go.
- Working under pressure: prioritising ruthlessly, making sensible trade-offs and maintaining good judgement when several things are happening at once.
- Change: adapting quickly when priorities shift, without unnecessary friction or losing sight of the outcome.
- Setbacks: responding constructively when deals stall or close out, looking for patterns, adjusting your approach and continuing to move forward.
- Direct feedback: listening, challenging constructively and being willing to change your approach when the evidence supports it.
- Accountability: making risks, blockers and trade-offs visible early rather than allowing problems to become someone else’s surprise.
- Ownership: focusing on what you can do to improve the overall outcome, even when the problem is not entirely within your control.
We do not expect everything to go perfectly. We do expect you to remain calm, constructive and effective when it does not.
This is not an environment where everything will be neatly defined or where someone else will always pick up the difficult bits. We are looking for people who become more useful when the work gets harder.
That does not mean working unsustainably or treating exhaustion as a virtue. For us, durability means maintaining good judgement, ownership and constructive behaviour when the circumstances are not ideal.
Perks and benefits
- 💫 Competitive salary and commercial plan - A competitive base salary plus a transparent, performance-based variable plan tied to platform growth measures, set out in full in your incentive plan.
- 🏖️ Generous paid time off - Holiday entitlement and public holidays will align with local regulations and market standards in your country of residence.
- 💪 Remote-first flexibility - We focus on outcomes, not hours, with flexibility around how you structure your day.
- 📚 £1,500 annual learning and development budget plus 3 paid learning days.
- 🌍 Team connection - Quarterly in-person meet-ups where possible and regular virtual team days.
💝 Values
- Meaning Matters: build something meaningful with people who care.
- Go Hard and Go Home: work hard for a mission you care about, while protecting the things that matter outside work.
- Grow Faster Than the Company: we invest in people who want to grow with the company.
- Mop the Floor: extreme ownership. If you see something that needs doing, take responsibility for it.
- What boss?: our customers are the real boss. Build around their needs and experience.
Your setup
As a remote-first team, we expect team members to have access to a suitable home working setup and a reliable internet connection. This role also requires the ability to travel regularly across the UK.
Diversity & Inclusion
Pickle People recognises the benefits of a diverse workforce and strives to be an inclusive organisation. We are committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect regardless of race, culture, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief and we promote diversity of thought. We would appreciate your help to enable us to measure the diversity within our recruitment process. Completing this form is voluntary and the information provided will remain anonymous.
